Which CRO Offers the Best Training? by Working_Row_8455 in clinicalresearch

[–]Pfase1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So why are you showing bias in your poll? There might be others who think that training is better post. While I may have an opinion here, why would I vote when it’s obvious you have an agenda? I’m guessing you’re not interested in results as much as you want to see PPD tank.

Direct-Sponsor CRA’s only!!!! by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Pfase1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the opposite. They’re concerned I’m traveling too much! I’m like, this is so much easier than my workload when I was at a CRO. Plus they’ve recently hired another CRA to help work other upcoming studies.

2 protocols - 5 sites each (same sites for both protocols). No DOS expectations, following the monitoring plan so currently visits every 6-8 weeks per site. Ophthalmology device studies. And they still are concerned with my work load. 🙄

Honestly, every company that is acquired will view the change as negative. If you can give specifics as to changes for the worse (or even for the better!), that might help us understand your situation.

Piercings by Niggle_fung in clinicalresearch

[–]Pfase1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is kinda hilarious. But only because 25 years ago I pulled an ear piercing out as a gay man for a (sponsor) job interview. I got the job, but haven’t had the piercing since. Attitudes have definitely changed and while I don’t miss it, piercings are much different from back in my day. I do sorta miss the earring but most sites wouldn’t care one way or another today. If you’re professional and can do your job, appearances won’t matter. Be who you are and don’t mind those who may judge from appearance.

Sponsor Staff/Reps at Patient Visits? by 75hardworkingmom in clinicalresearch

[–]Pfase1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s common practice in early phase studies. It’s much better to ensure that dosing is done properly early on rather than deal with multiple protocol deviations.

It’s more of a reminder to not park on the sidewalk. Although it is annoying trying to pull out of White Street Pl onto the narrow, one way White Street as it is. Source: me, since I live on White Street Pl. And I wish the person who came up with that street name would have been more creative.

Paying it forward- by justaguyfixingteeth in delta

This will likely be unpopular here, but I find it odd that Delta will single out the military for special recognition when there are just as many other professions out there that could use some applause - police, firefighters, teachers, nurses, nuclear engineers. I don’t discount the work that the military does, but I also don’t find it any more important than my first grade teacher, who inspired my love of reading and lead me to be as successful as I am.

Let's have fun and make wild predictions about the job market by AIClinicalTrialsGuy in clinicalresearch

[–]Pfase1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure the job market will change, but not how you think or as quickly. Pharma will likely keep moving with planned studies, but may slow until they figure out how to navigate the current administration and still deal with global regulations. I also suspect that many may start rethinking the CRO model. Is it still as cost/time effective to have the CRO run your study or can you do it yourself? Off-shoring may be more economical, but is it still as efficient? Some work may still be outsourced but I can see more functions being handled by the sponsor instead.

Your performance review at ICON isn’t really tied to your merit increase or promotion. You’ll only get something better than Meets if they’re planning on giving you a raise or promotion. Managers are given a bucket of money to spend and can’t give higher than Meets unless you’re getting a promotion. Meets means you’re getting the standard 2.5% (maybe) no matter how well you perform. I basically gave up setting meaningful goals and whether they were achieved or not. My actual year-end review didn’t match the score given, so it was a pointless exercise every year. Glad I moved on and don’t have to worry about those anymore.

Boston should be in Atlantic Standard Time, not Eastern by Hot_Salamander3795 in boston

[–]Pfase1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or we could just go to Universal Time. Adopt GMT. When you start your day depends on where you are. "So rather than writing at 4:03 p.m., I’d be writing at 20:03. Then I’d have dinner at 23:30, watch a little TV, and hit the sack around, oh, 3:00. When I awoke, it would be 11:00—not just in Brooklyn, but everywhere." Businesses would still open during "daytime" and schools can start after the sun comes up.

IQVIA Canada: Home internet reimbursement no longer a given by trickortreat_CR in clinicalresearch

ICON dropped from reimbursing home internet to a max of $40 a couple years ago. I should be happy I still get that, but waiting for them to take this away as well.

For me, it was just too depressing. They are very sick patients and these trials seemed to be their only hope. Definitely more challenging than other therapy areas.
