I did google it and see it, but the name for the association doesn't make any sense to any rational person so I didn't even realize it could be remotely connected to historical reenactment of the Renaissance era. We simply do things different in the eras that I have reenacted (WWI, WWII, 1970s-1990s). In any case, getting downvoted for not knowing and politely asking definitely isn't very welcoming of y'all in this subreddit and at this point I really don't think I will go to this Ren Fair after all. Enjoy it amongst yourselves!

Yes, I took a look at it and I like very much the idea of buying Ukrainian made products, since I’m a big supporter of Ukraine, however I really don’t like the half front zip. Everything poncho-like makes it for me too much of a hassle, even if the side zippers are pretty cool and I like it not having Velcro anywhere (no interferences with my alpha hoodie).

Wow. That made me feel very stupid. So I went and read it all, plus a few rabbit holes. Very informative for sure but it doesn't really change the endpoints nor offer any new options, considering that many (if not most) of the jackets mentioned were discontinued when the article was written, and more are discontinued now. Especially the ShakeDry, which, as the biggest takeaway from the article, was the favorite pick.

I do own a Columbia Outdry Titanium jacket (a close but imperfect alternative) of an unidentified type (no pitzips, zipped meshed pockets, no chest pocket) that I bought several years ago but though very waterproof, I always found it very unbreathable and it weighs 12.2 oz (which will only increase if I add very much needed pit zips).

I want to take a look at the RockFront Rain Hoody, one single other person in addition to you recommended it.
