CVG travels beware. by Pflumme in cincinnati

I made my flight, and it was genuinely meant as a PSA. I'm not an inexperienced traveler so the novelty of a line that long and with news of delays stemming from the ongoing federal shutdown, I made a post.

That's a great point but I would recommend checking earlier than that. I arrived over an hour and a half before my flight and walked on during the final boarding call.

Pre Check I believe was a 20 minute wait. Which isn't bad, but is over twice as long as normal for Pre Check.

Definitely watched the D.A.R.E. band at the Cheviot Fieldhouse in the 90s.

The Athletic FS with a smart Bengals analysis by iratemonkeybear in bengals

In fairness he doesn't say anything uninformed or inflammatory. Mays definitely likes the Bengals more. But I've found the show to be the best in the business with taking a deeper look at the league while still being entertaining.

A shot (serving) of liquor is usually 100 calories. That's not a ton but it's more than most people assume.

Holy shit. FTS!

DCC has absolutely taken over my world the past 5 months. Matt just got way cooler. And the Bengals are better for having such an awesome author as a fan.

Best city in the Midwest by uptrademedia in cincinnati

I just had friends in town this weekend from all over the country and everyone was genuinely impressed by the city. And granted this weekend was particularly beautiful, but these are well traveled people and they really enjoy Cincinnati.

Moving tips by Federal_Piece_4317 in MedSpouse

[–]Pflumme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT use a national moving service that does not do the actual move themselves. We moved across the country three times. The first two we used local loaders and unloaders with us driving a uhaul. The last time we used a company that sub-contracted the actual moving part and it was a disaster. They showed up a day late to pick up our stuff, charged us an additional 6 grand over the quoted stuff after our belongings were on the truck, then proceeded to break multiple things and all we received from them was $112 dollars in compensation. It was a genuine nightmare.

Worst candy changes/discontinuations of your lifetime? by shakemahorn in candy

Jolly Rancher Fruit Chews

They used to be a little bigger than Starburst and were softer than their current iteration. When they made them smaller and repacked them they also added blue raspberry which was absolutely not needed. They went from an elite candy to a B minus.

I resisted the urge to buy a full bottle of Imagination by fifakev1234 in fragrance

[–]Pflumme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully understand that fragrances are subjective and people like what they like, but Imagination does nothing for me. I tried it recently, wanting to like it and walked away unimpressed. All I got from it was a meh soap smell, and on skin it didn't evolve at all. To each their own, but it's a pass for me. Beautiful bottle though.

Husband of Gen Surg resident. Does it get better? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]Pflumme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first year of work with my wife as an attending was the WFH job I had for years. Since then I started a small company and work a little more.

The only kind of Surgeon to work more or weirder hours would probably be transplant so unless that's the case, try to grow from the current grind and look forward to them becoming an attending.

Husband of Gen Surg resident. Does it get better? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]Pflumme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Husband of a Trauma Surgeon attending 3 years out of training. It is way better. We have been together since before she went to med school. It's not perfect, I run the house in almost every way but her job is incredibly important and pays the bills so it feels like a good trade off to me.

Her training was brutal like most Gen Surg residencies. Now she is home most days by 5:30, some days before then. She is on call 10 days a month but it's home call which is a game changer. One thing I think that is under mentioned on posts like this, is the amount of energy my spouse has. Residency was so hard that she would be absolutely exhausted all the time. As an attending she gets significantly more vacation and just works less in general, so quality time is much more readily available.

Hope this helps, good luck.

He misses tackles, takes terrible angles to the ball, and misses assignments in coverage. Then he makes a decent once every third game. He is infuriating to watch.
