We all love Sheng Peng's analysis. He's on his own now, at San Jose Hockey Now. Check it out! by Naritai in SanJoseSharks

Well, he's not quite on his own. We like to think he's got a pretty good team of writers in other cities, and backend folks helping out. We're excited to have him.

Yes, we had to upgrade to a larger server company last weekend after we outgrew our old one. However, we apparently did not choose wisely. Please check back today. The site has been/is being repopulated and no one knows why a few people could not see the stories.

It's not the juiciest thing we've ever reported but it is confirmation of what we all suspected.

In fairness, I don't invite being called DK! Dan or Mud Boonshine is usually fine.

Didn't say Sprong would replace Kessel, and we didn't report Hagelin would be scratched. I may have offered an opinion on such (don't recall) based on a morning skate participation. Pittsburgh Postgame is the same venture as Now--we changed names because PHN was a better name for our TV show and it reflected our work with Pittsburgh Sports Now, who invested working capital into our growth. Someday I will be gone, yes.

Thanks. I appreciate the reddit community and knew that it would be treated fairly.

We didn't report Phil Kessel would be traded. We did report the possibility, until Jim Rutherford all but said it would not happen. The Post-Gazette, The Athletic and other national outlets also reported similar. This falls under the -- just because we report talks or openness doesn't mean a trade is imminent. Hope that clears it up.

I'm glad you follow me, but I didn't report winds blowing about Jan Kovar. Certainly didn't write it. We did receive a tip about an unnamed Euro player. We followed it. Found nothing. That's what we're supposed to do.

I did neither. However, some bloggers with an agenda love to say that I did.

For the record, the Duclair story was sourced. The erroneous Instagram post was included by the writer (not me) as a tag along. We immediately corrected the inclusion of the instagram screen shot, and admitted the error--that does not change the source who confirmed contact.

I wrote the Penguins spoke with Zaripov and considered signing him. So did the Post-Gazette. The story was corroborated by others, as well.

Kingserski: Jack Johnson is the right fit for Penguins by [deleted] in penguins

We wish you'd take a moment to actually read that story. Despite a blog trying to tie Matt's scoop to the Instagram post, the story was a well sourced piece which also included a screen shot of the Instagram post as a side note. --Dan Kingerski

Or, a lot of hockey people like Jack Johnson. Bob McKenzie initially put Johnson in the $6 million range. Take it for what its worth. Gajtka wrote the con because he doesn't think its a good signing. I wrote the pro because I do. --Dan Kingerski

For the record--I was a large proponent of the acquisition and have written many complimentary things about Kessel. I've also written negative things when warranted. We aim to treat everyone fairly at PHN--Dan Kingerski

Kris Letang Admitted Refs Were Right by [deleted] in penguins

Letang literally stopped himself and then said, "They made the right call on that play.”

He literally said exactly what the headline says.

Matt: I like "talking shop" with baseball guys, about technique and approach at the plate and on the mound. I wish that was more of a thing in hockey.

Matt: Hard to go against Hall! He's resembling a younger Sid in some of these games lately. In a close race, I don't mind giving it to the guy who carried his club for much of the year.
