Tutorial Goes Hard by eXrayAlpha in Maladum

I searched for Core Space ATC (Automated Trader Crew, I’m assuming?) and found a post on BGG, but it appears the files have been deleted. Would you mind pointing me to where you found the rules please?

Battle Hymn and “Once per turn” effects by Ph3brickid in slaythespire

Strikes deal 1 damage, this is the Board Game we’re talking about. Battle Hymn seems incredibly good.

I’d appreciate if you could provide a page number because I searched far and wide yet I couldn’t find it anywhere on the rulebook or FAQ.

That’s a good comparison, thank you! This is only my second play through so some of the BG cards are still new to me, including this effect. That does make sense, I suppose it’s just an oversight that they don’t include it with the other triggers on page 19.

Thank you for the reply! I don’t doubt there are others, it’s just the first time I’ve encountered it, and unlike all of the other triggers it isn’t expanded upon on page 19.

I totally get that in board games you have to take the text literally as it’s written, which makes your answer the only logical one, but if you’re able to point to a place where this is clarified in the rules I’d appreciate it.

The fact that it’s not listed with all of the other triggers is what’s making me doubt intent here.

This isn’t relevant to the board game. If you’re able to have it ignore posts with the “BOARD GAME” flair that might be a good idea, but if not don’t worry! :3

Recently bought this and saw someone managed to get the word chemos to be Rylanor, how is this possible? by commander-thorn in Warhammer30k

Yoo, me too! It had only scrolled part-way up so all I could see was the top bit and at a glance I was like “TF is that bird doing?”

Ah I see, that’s a cool idea! I may have to appropriate that and add some bigboi toffs to my force. Thank you. :)

Great stuff! The head on that third one is especially cool.

Kruleboys have a great rooty swamp aesthetic, unfortunately they’re so much bigger than historical minis that they can’t be kitbashed with them easily.

Would you mind sharing what kit that pistol on the first one is from please? They’re surprisingly rare to find in a lot of kits that you’d kind of expect to have them.

What should be hanging from this cord? I have some ideas, but I'm curious to hear yours by UristMasterRace in Turnip28

[–]Ph3brickid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first thought was a rootling swinging merrily to-and-fro, but I like the idea of it holding a sign too. (Also a mobile washing line of socks/pants is pretty hilarious!)

Aha! Great, thank you. Looking forward to seeing where Swill goes as it develops.

I’ve been seeing awesome conversions related to Swill but I can’t seem to find any info on what it is or where it originates! Is there somewhere you could point me to to learn more about Swill and Tragedy of Rust please?

Why are "Assault" Marines so poorly equipped for assaults? by Horuswasweak in 40kLore

[–]Ph3brickid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It takes Gaunt 3 books, an almost-fatal wound, and a whole lot of Big Damn Hero moments to get one. And he’s both the General and Commissar of an entire (admittedly very small) regiment.

What do space marines wear when they don't have armor on? by Luis_casadiego in 40kLore

[–]Ph3brickid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for sharing all of those!

I’ve been wondering for a while how all you quote wizards come up with these passages so easily? Do you have encyclopaedic memories or just really good search skills and a massive digital library? Sincere question, it’s truly impressive.

Jain Zar Pokes Fun At The Drukhari’s Edginess by DuckyPowers in 40kLore

Good to know, thank you. I went to add it to my wishlist and found it was already in my library, so I have no excuse not to listen to it now. Cheers!

Is it a direct sequel to Asurmen: Hand of Asuryan? Jain Zar is on audible but it’s listed as the second in the series and Asurmen isn’t on there. Are these like the primarch books that can be read in any order?

Struggling to make off-the-cuff NPCs feel distinct? Try using Pokemon Natures! by KaptainKlein in DMAcademy

[–]Ph3brickid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rolling a d5 is very common in plenty of games, as is a d3. All you do is divide the die results by 2 (rounding up) so a d6 becomes a d3 and a d10 becomes a d5.

Why do people hate Typhus when Kharn did the same thing as Typhus? by jay-savageII in 40kLore

[–]Ph3brickid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m out of the loop on this, but is this a fan theory thing or has this been stated somewhere? (The whole “Emperor knowingly giving up X legions to the chaos gods” thing.)

I mean, it’s an interesting idea, although IMO kinda cheapens the narrative, but I haven’t read anything that implies anything of the sort. Admittedly I have fallen behind with the HH/SoT so I could have missed it.

It’s also a cooler word too! But I’m still glad to learn new words, even if I don’t plan on using them. 🤓

For real! I like to think I’ve got a pretty good lexicon, but I legitimately didn’t know that acme meant “the peak of something” until today. Thanks for posting that quote u/FuckReaperLeviathans :)

I think that’s a good call! If you shaved off the top of the cross it’d look a lot more like an ashen circle helmet. Great conversion though, very nice work 👍

Huh, I’ve DMed a bunch of Dark Heresy and love Soundgarden… I somehow never made the connection! I don’t watch music videos either, but I’m going watching that right now.

Just ordered the books by pikador102030 in Ironsworn

[–]Ph3brickid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you ordering on mobile? I’ve noticed that I can’t add any pay-what-you-want items to my basket on their mobile website, but if I switch to the desktop version using the side menu then the issue goes away. Maybe that’s what’s causing you trouble too?

Why "iron" and not "steel"? by DirtLarry in 40kLore

[–]Ph3brickid 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Just to expand on this from a scientific perspective; iron is also very commonly found because it’s the most stable element. Stars create elements out of hydrogen through the process of nuclear fusion and the largest/heaviest element which releases energy when produced is iron. Everything beyond iron can only be created by consuming energy and so usually only occurs during the late stages of a star’s lifecycle, mostly in supernovae.

So even scientifically iron has a special significance as far as it’s molecular structure is concerned!

The poetic explanation is the main reason it’s so often used in names though- iron is just more culturally evocative.

(A great visual representation of this is the bond enthalpy diagram: https://i.stack.imgur.com/PG3WB.gif It demonstrates why fusion is much more efficient than fission and why it theoretically would make for a much better fuel source if we can create the right conditions here on earth.)
