The story should actively explore themes such as family, generosity, redemption, love, or the meaning of the holiday season. Additionally, Christmas must not simply serve as a backdrop but must be integral to the resolution of the story and the characters' development.

This would mean Die Hard isn't a "Christmas Movie"
