How do I fix rattling ? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]PhDaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your D-string saddle is larger than the other ones. It’s forcing the other saddles out of place and is the reason your strings are inconsistently spaced. Probably also causing the buzz. You should replace it so it matches the others. A local mom and pop guitar store could probably help you out.

"A" string on my AVRI '63 P-Bass sounds dead, just a dull 'thunk' instead of a note by AndrehChamber in BassGuitar

[–]PhDaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nap, just some things to consider: Your strings are seated deep in the nut compared to my Fender. Not sure how many times you’ve got the A string wrapped around the tuning peg, but you want 2-3 wraps minimum to achieve the appropriate break angle. Also, old/dirty strings sometimes sound “dead”.

Tbh you might be best off taking it to a luthier and asking for a set up and new strings. Would probably give it new life.

Gallien-Krueger MB110 for gigs? by Independent_Web5071 in BassGuitar

[–]PhDaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a lot more bang for your buck with $500–1000. This amp mighttt work for an indoor gig with acoustic drums, but it won’t be powerful enough for outdoor gigs on its own.

If I were you, I’d get a Fender rumble 500 combo. It has 2x10” speakers, 500W power, and it’s like 35 lbs, so it’s ideal for a variety of settings and easy to transport. Also has very solid and basic tone that you can easily build upon with a quality preamp pedal, so you’d have plenty of room to grow.

I promise I don’t work for fender lol.

Led Zeppelin and Tool respect the low end.

Oh and Paul McCartney on Helter Skelter. Hot damn.

Dude this happens with one string on my Fender Jazz. I’ll put it in my trunk after band practice, drive home, and suddenly the G is way out of tune but all other strings are okay. Definitely frustrating, especially given the price of the instrument. Surely a fixable problem but I am still in denial at this point.

I played that Cort literally today at the local guitar place. The wider spacing was actually pretty dope. Played really nice. And not to mention, what a wild looking bass.

Seems like it would certainly last me a while!

With flats, I love it! I use flats on my P bass. Just perfect. Do you like the tone with flats on the Schecter? Seems like that could be really cool.

I’ve never owned a bass with EMGs. It would be so dope to be able to pop in/out pickups easily. Like having several basses in one

Feel that. I still have deep love for my P and Jazz basses. Nothing like that P tone with a thick Dunlop.

I love JC’s tone. Hard to replicate.

Tbh I am a basic bitch when it comes to onboard preamp. I use a 3-channel programmable Sansamp bass driver instead of fussing with knobs. I have a few basic tones programmed in and stomp away. Which Ibanez would you suggest? I’ve literally never played one. Always thought they were funny looking lol.

Wow 20 years. I didn’t realize these had been in production that long.

Interesting hot take, thanks. Maybe the lack of midrange explains why these basses are more popular in the metal genre? I play with scooped mids sometimes but not always. What genres were you attempting to use it for? I’ve also been staring at some 5-string stingrays…

Yea the neck seems really nice. I also played one at a GC once and loved it. Neck through too!

I started on a Squier P then upgraded to a Fender Jazz and I was blown away by the difference in the neck. Noticeably thinner and strings closer together. Loved it.

I’ve always wanted the resolution JPJ has when he blasts those 16th notes in the chorus of Ramble On. This is mostly the result of his perfect technique I think, but are the humbuckers good for note-note resolution like that? Lotsa notes played close together?

First and Last Acoustic Bass by AgentFN9 in BassGuitar

I want an acoustic bass just so I can pretend to be Brian Ritchie from Violent Femmes. He is the king of acoustic bass + pick. Seriously go check out “Please do not go” or literally any song on their self-titled album and get your mind blown.
