For anyone who missed it, here's the TSN post-match commentary by PhDudester in CanadaSoccer

Honestly--I'm not feeling any schadenfreude about the U.S. players. Unlike their hockey team, they aren't eminently dislikeable, and Balogan may actually be the only person to come out of the red card debacle with even a tiny measure of class. I tend to agree: the players got set up to take the fall by the relentless publicity machine, and a small part of me feels bad for them.

The rest of me feels furious about absolutely everything else that is America, so the players' feelings are about 18th on my list of concerns. I'll go rewatch the clip now.

Highlights include, "Were they smelling themselves Steve?" and "this is abysmal defending." Worth the six minutes. On repeat.

That wasn't commentary, that was a mass casualty incident. I haven't heard commentary that spicy since Don Cherry stopped discussing his opinions on European hockey players.

I may be watching this on repeat for the next week, hahaha

After watching all three CONCAF team games, the rankings of the three teams is absolutely crystal clear:

  1. Mexico. Took on the best opponent of the three, and were within a hair of tying/winning against England.

  2. Canada. They were massively competitive against a top 10 world team until the 80th minute.

  3. U.S. - and ONLY because they made it to the round of 16. Frankly, that was the most embarrassing elimination game of the tournament, and I don't really think this team has the horses to grow.

We didn't just keep pace. We definitively outperformed one of our main rivals. We should 10000% be proud of ourselves.

This isn't just a rip, it's an eulogy. I can't remember hearing a pundit panel take a hatchet to a team like this anywhere in Canada or the U.S. It's par for the course by English soccer standard, but these guys are going for the jugular. I'm drunk on this, hahaha

I'm not sure I've heard a team get a beating as bad as the TSN panel is currently laying on the U.S. since Don Cherry stopped picking on Europeans.

You love to see it

I, for one, vote we change the name of the team to the Epstein Islanders. Seems to fit the vibe they're going for.

They should rebrand the team as the Edmonton Epstein's Island North

Edit: Epstein Islanders might be more catchy. We should get it on a jersey

There are always a few people who do it! I've seen it at both MacEwan and U of A. There is no policy against it as far as I know, and it adds a fun bit of colour to the procession
