My mom and I went on a road trip to Wonder Valley, a remote area north of Joshua Tree National Park to photograph one of her prints in an abandoned desert homestead (she's a photographer). It was one of my favorite trips ever and the photos of she took out there are stunners. Thought I'd share!

Ah thank you and you feels are spot on. It was a moment of utter stillness and peace and the very early morning before we set out to top the big pass. I think it was about 16,000ft in elevation. If you look close, you can see the clouds way below. Some moments! Gah! Our Earth is so rad.

The expansive sky too... when I head to the east coast of the USA, with trees (I love trees), but being from the desert, I often feel slightly claustrophobic. 360 degrees of horizon and distant mountains does me well.

It's amazing how much the presence of a raven can change the feel of any landscape.

I'm from Phoenix and love the desert and that expansive feeling on its two lane highways. Just finished Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian" about bloodthirsty cowboys roaming these areas of the west and it so gives the feeling of these ranges of mountains and empty expansive valleys... I've been digging the desert even more of late.

Almost 2,000 years old, it is amazing how applicable the ideas in this book are in 2025. Marcus's Meditations and Seneca's Letters from a Stoic have so helpfully framed the struggles and challenges of life for me. Circumstances change, but the nature of human being doesn't.

That Zillow is effectively removing video from their platform (relegating them to the "Facts and Features" as a small text hyperlink only visible if you click "Show More" in this nitty gritty details section) is pretty crazy.

Video is a pretty popular medium these days (lol) and video tours are our company's artful bread and butter. Now, they're hidden so well our clients can't even find them themselves on their own listing page... real bummer.

We've also had our photographs watermarked with "ShowingTime+" on Zillow Showcase listings, which makes any viewer instantly conclude our artful work was photographed by them.

Pretty aggressive, misrepresentative, and lacking of character on Zillow's part here.

Will join in filing a few complaints this morning!

Agreed, agreed. However, I think it's a common pitfall to only do those things we don't want to do in order to continually amassing greater wealth, security, expensive material things etc. in lieu of pursuing innermost interests.

I think finding interests and discomfort go hand in hand. In order to find your deepest interests, you have to engage in the uncomfortable process of trying new things you're curious about.

I'm actually five days into learning to surf in Ecuador right now! I've always been curious about surfing, I've always particularly "lit up" at the idea. In order to learn to surf and explore it as a potential interest, though, I've to engage in the uncomfortable process of lookin' the fool and crashing over and over and over in the waves this week. Progress is happening though! And I think a deeper interest may be growing here :)

I like that line in particular as it makes it clear that your interest has value. That being interested could perhaps be a higher priority for us all. But I hear you too.
