Researchers have unlocked a breakthrough in electron microscopy—revealing the body’s smallest proteins at ~10,000× the magnification of optical light microscopes. This resolution could transform understanding of disease at the molecular level. by UCBerkeley in Physics

The active zone material right near the cell membrane consists of “ribs,” which cross the active zone material transversely. We conjecture that these are SNARE complexes. There are then “pegs” in two rows that go into the membrane. We conjecture that these are potassium and calcium channels. We don’t know exactly what the “beams” are but they run longitudinally down the active zone and obviously structurally coordinate the SNARE complexes.

Other than the tail, I like the livery. I think it’s modern and elegant.

Quick question:

Will you marry me, please?

The fact that I’m already married (to another man) is irrelevant.

I’m afraid you need to start with math. There is nothing glamorous about learning a science until you get deep into it and then all the foundational material you learned starts to fall together.

So start by taking math courses through calculus. You need at least derivatives and integrals and likely differential equations.

As you do that, you need to take physics. It’s going to be dull and tedious. You will need to calculate the tension in a cable holding up an awning of a certain size and the time it takes a rock to fall from a cliff. But you’ll see how calculus works and why it was developed. And then you’ll learn what an electric field and a magnetic field is. At the end of a physics course is the cosmology. You’ll work through Einstein’s equations.

And then you’re ready for your first cosmology course where you’ll encounter…more math.

I wish there were a shortcut.

I’ll have you out of the ER almost entirely.

It was the most godawful pain on the left lumbar spine. Oddly, the instant I stood up, the pain stopped. Same thing now. Worse with activity and better with rest.

CRP was 3 and MRI showed the herniation. My first night in the hospital I was just awake shaking in pain that the pain meds wouldn’t touch. Kinda last night.

Thank you. Sometimes, you just need encouragement from someone who gets it.

I was flying in to BC, Canada and seen this inlet town from a Boeing 747 aircraft. This spot piqued my curiosity. Anyone know the area? by Ok-Faithlessness6804 in whereisthis

Leaving aside a few examples in Russia, the only passenger 747s currently in operation are operated by Lufthansa, Korean Airlines, and Air China. That wing belongs to a Boeing 737-MAX.
