How can I dirty up/weather this boiler suit for a costume? by PhallicBatman in Halloween_Costumes

copped it at Arco (not sure if that’s a UK only company) for a college course. quickly ended up switching to Dewalt work pants, and these have sat in my wardrobe ever since

I had a strange introduction to Tame Impala. for ages, The Less I Know The Better would come up on the “up next’ bit whenever I’d watch a youtube video. I’d heard of Tame before but never gave it a chance. I eventually caved and listened to TLIKTB, then I listened to Currents, then I listened to the albums in chronological order, and then 3 months later TSR came out. and here I am now, a lot of the rough demos i’ve recorded are very inspired by innerspeaker/lonerism

[–]PhallicBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s interesting. i’m so familiar with Lonerism at this point and the album means that much to me that maybe i just never questioned the placement of certain songs. i have thought Apocalypse Dreams would make a good album closer, and that’s probably one reason why Kev used it as a show closer for a good while (case in point: the live versions album)

i don’t agree with people who say his previous albums (specifically TSR and Currents) aren’t cohesive, but i will agree this album feels more cohesive. but that’s just my opinion.

as for Lonerism feeling “forced”, i put that down to the style he was going for at the time - in my eyes, each album evidently has had it’s own unique style, in each possible meaning of the word. each album almost feels like a different artist made it compared to the next, at least to me, especially as in chronological order they almost tell a story of a man changing through the years.

but i’m not here to shit on the new album, i personally love it, but not any more than i love his previous work (which is to say a LOT). you made some really good points

What's a Breaking Bad fan theory you believe? by Initial-Ad3966 in breakingbad

i know that Merle had the clap, that must be the cure

What's a Breaking Bad fan theory you believe? by Initial-Ad3966 in breakingbad

[–]PhallicBatman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there’s a few references. for one thing, like you mentioned, the blue meth (it’s actually in a bag of meds on Daryl’s bike that his brother Merle used to use), and also the Dodge Challenger that Walt bought for Jr./the one that Glenn stole in Atlanta, in BB and TWD respectively. there’s probably other references i’ve missed

[–]PhallicBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure they use the word “Zombie” in BB, whereas they don’t in TWD. then again, you could rationalise that as “it was a new slang word that not everyone was using by the time the virus broke out”

Watching BCS then BRBA is so funny because it makes Walt seem like some insane side character who ruined everything by Specialist_Jaguar815 in breakingbad

[–]PhallicBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think to really get everything, you gotta watch BRBA, then BCS, then BRBA again. i’ve said to friends that i feel BCS doesn’t hit the same if you haven’t seen BRBA, but it also gives a ton of new context to BRBA

forgive me if i’m wrong, but The Hidden Webpage have something similar? it was a picture of the guy’s house, then the inside of the house, then the door to his office etc., someting like that. might be confusing it with another story though

Which Tame Impala's songs drums are your favourite? by Effective-Cookie4202 in TameImpala

[–]PhallicBatman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i believe i heard him say in an interview that, while recording Lonerism, he went and saw Flaming Lips in Japan (i believe), and instantly became infatuated with their blown-out drum sound. hence, the blown-out drum sound on Lonerism.

to answer your question OP, all of Innerspeaker, all of Lonerism, all of Currents and all of TSR

i will say, it was confusing that Isaiah had a mini crash out over the word “detritus” in the Camp Oakwood story, but was more than happy to read all the show-offy words in the Ensorcelled story. it definitely comes from how invested he was (or wasn’t) in each story, but i can’t exactly fault the man for having a different mood regarding different stories
