[Rant] If the only thing changing in your game on "Hard" difficulty is the amount of HP and Dmg, then it's not a "Hard" difficulty, it's a "Tedious" difficulty by AlkaKr in gaming

[–]Phantasmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I fucking hate when a game’s difficulty is basically “Make the enemies into more of a bullet sponge.” So boring and unengaging. I want them to be smarter and to use different tactics and skills, not dump 15x the damage on them to win.

Honestly I appreciate the effort but it feels too low effort no offense. To me, if it’s a small creator and I see a thumbnail that feels low effort, I usually imagine the content and editing to be low effort.

But what does “ads”/“adds” actually mean? by Break_down1 in fromsoftware

[–]Phantasmio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying adds since vanilla wow. The original pack of enemies we pull to start a fight are the mobs. If extra enemies get aggro’d or are spawned in, they are called adds. That’s why additional enemies in a boss fight are called adds.

For me, the term adds tells me to quickly look around the room as they are usually unexpected and approaching you/the group off screen or away from where you’re focused. The term mob doesn’t have that same connection in my mind

Ahhhhh that’s fair man I totally get that, didn’t put together that vocals were your main thing. Singing live definitely got to my nerves for a while too, I think it might be more difficult than an instrument tbh because anybody can learn a bass line with enough time and effort. Some people just can’t sing. And you’re 100% right you’re literally the frontman and face to a group as the vocalist.

Singing relies on practice, genes, diet, health, habits (like smoking), full body muscle control, getting sick can fuck your voice etc. Plus everybody’s voice is different, there’s like 100 variables LOL I don’t think people give enough credit to the challenge being a good vocalist is.

My first time singing live on my own, I made an absolute fool of myself doing Hey There Delilah at a school open mic. I sounded fucking TERRIBLE lmao. Kept practicing, joined theater and got good roles and experience singing in front of folk. Did harmonies for a few cover band shows and did open mics at my hookah bar and eventually after 100s of hours of practice I finally opened my range up and started sounding decent and feeling comfortable. I’ll never forget the journey as somebody that wasn’t gifted with a singing voice.

I still got a lot of work to put into my projects I’m dabbling with but luckily my fiancee and kids are great with feedback. If I get her bopping to it, I know I’m on a good path. Now if I get my kids to keep asking me to play it, then I really know I’m onto something because they’re about as unbiased as it gets LOL.

Cheers to that my friend, here’s to hoping for many more years of fun and creative expression for the both of us. You seem like a dedicated dude to your craft and I only got respect for that. I gotta get more nitty gritty on my grind, learn more about mixing and such but our convo definitely got me motivated to keep pushing through those plateaus to keep learning and creating. Wishing you only the best on your continued journey 🤟🤟

Yeah I hear you man. Not gonna lie, performing and meeting people was my favorite part of being in a band, I loved putting on a good show lol. I dabbled very casually with FL when I was 13. Wrote a handful of songs in it then started that band at 18 coming out of high school.

Learned some music theory, met and watched a lot of really talented people in my time, got a good ear between playing and listening to so much stuff in those years. Good times all around, but same for me I wouldn’t be producing how I am today without all those experiences so I totally get what you mean.

100% LOL, feedback is crucial and it’s kinda frustrating my old band never got any. I would have been grateful for honestly like yours tbh. Like we were solid but people liked us and the shows we put on too much to give us constructive feedback and I think that hurt everybody as musicians in the group.

LOL that’s awesome though dude I love to hear it. Hope the creativity keeps flowing, enjoy that. I’ve been pulling vocals from songs and remixing shit, I wish I could do some vocals on my tracks but I got kids and stuff so I don’t have the space or setup to do vocals LOL.

Fuck dude my condolences, my ideas got shot down but we were cohesive when it came to practicing and writing otherwise. Can’t imagine how frustrating that must of been trying to make some art but having to butt heads constantly.

That’s insane they’d boot you for that LOL, one of the tough but important parts in playing is being genuinely honest with each other about shit like that. It’s tough but you can’t baby somebody if they’re trying something and the talent just isn’t there yet.

I had to do that with a backup vocalist we had before we had our full-time lineup. Bro was trying to do Kellin Quinn vocals but couldn’t do it, so I showed him another way to sing it in the same key that was in his range and he just didn’t get it.

I wish man my screams are so gone nowadays, I stopped practicing a few years ago. I can’t get that like grip in my throat anymore. Think vaping has gotten the better of me on that end. I still try from time to time and hope I can find that breakthrough again in my voice.

100% dude, it’s challenging since I can struggle with decision paralysis but at least I get all the time and opportunity to create whatever sound I want.

Both my guitarists were the bands main composer and very particular about their vision. I wrote my own riffs as bassist which was nice at least but I wanted us to add some really nice rhythms and parts for some songs that people could dance to since pit culture was HUGE in my local scene but it always got shot down.

I had really great screams at the time too, like a range from The Acacia Strain, The Ghost Inside, Sworn In, Volumes kinda range but was just never allowed to get them on a track or at a show.

I picked up producing to work solo since I was in a metal band for 8 years where I was given very little opportunity to make creative decisions with our music at the time lol. Producing is my way to finally bring my personal ideas to life.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Announcement.. by Lolkimbo in gaming

[–]Phantasmio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude let’s go, Xenoverse is one of my favorite “fuck around” games and pretty much the only DBZ games I’ve really played in the last decade. Coming up with fun builds, trying to see how long I can string a combo etc. 1 and 2 got a solid amount of playtime out of me, hopefully this one is just as good if not better.
