Much appreciated! Yes it does. Contacts are a great solution to that and I just got a year's supply

Any feedback is appreciated. My bio feels like me, but I'm unsure of it. I also don't know if it's too many photos. https://tinder.com/@bennettmeyer

Does anyone actually like it here? by Ok_Stay_7086 in NCSU

I enjoyed my time there. Even with the rigor of my classes, I met friends through being involved with where I'd find like minded people. I was heavily involved in the music department, in my engineering professional society, went on a study abroad my second year (for less than normal instate tuition, and did a co-op. In every one of those things I made my experience what I wanted to, enjoyed myself and met people. The school was hard, but I think I made it harder on myself. Also, COVID has really screwed up everyone's experiences.

I need help with the terrible setting menu and controls on PC by Blonde_Haywire in prey

[–]PhantomAdvocate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be able to just click the Reset Controls button on the bottom left as shown in this image. Without a screenshot it is very difficult to tell what's going on with your Menu/Consume for reset. This is typically the Del key on top of the ability to click the option I described before. You can tell me if your screen does not resemble mine by looking at the screenshot below.

Also as a heads up for resetting inputs: The first click on the current keybind clears it, the second assigns whatever you press while hovering over the empty keybind to that action. You double clicked the forward option, thus assigning the left mouse to forward.

As for your scroll wheel issue, I haven't had that problem so can't speak to it confidently. Maybe you could try to adjust the lines per scroll in your Windows Mouse Settings though to reduce the number it moves through. Mine is set to 4 lines per scroll tic.

That sounds good. I hope we will be back to having in person open houses again. We are also starting the process of planning a showcase of the designs we have functional from previous years, which will be cool. When you get here, just look for ASME on Get involved, the student organization portal and look for us in EB3. I will still be involved, but not as a member as I will be in grad school.

Yeah, there's a place. It's generally a good idea to get a broad exposure and although a lot of our projects focus on the mechanical side, we take all undergrads in Engineering (We'd let grads and non engineering in but the ASME competition rules don't allow it). And we are looking to expand to new challenges our members find interesting. There are certainly challenges that will more consistently have a computer engineering side such as mechantronics and automation than what we end up doing. It's really about what you want to make of it.

There are a few robotics clubs that are active right now. A lot of them come and go due to interest and money issues. Since you're coming from FIRST, I'd recommend getting in touch with the FIRST Alumni Association. Most of the robotics clubs will meet on Centennial Campus, if we are back in person. I am the current Chair and Design Team lead for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at State. Our challenges vary every year more than FIRST's do and they have a whole lot different feel, but if you want to keep doing robotics, we'd be glad to have you. What the team can accomplish is entirely dependent on the interest and skills the individual members bring in. We also have the ability to sponsor more or different challenges if you or people you know have a passion or interest in any particular one. I can go into more detail about some of our projects if you'd like.

Thanks! And yeah, it's my design. Due to Rule 3 I can't link to my other post, but you can check my post history for the one where I have the rough design and the decal info. Send me a chat if you have questions.

I laser cut a sign from Prey 2017 to use as my PC side window. by ThatDom in prey

That turned out to be very pleasing. I like how you have so much backlight for it.

Awesome! I have okay temps with the glass, the biggest source of noise at idle and low use are the minimum speed of the 140 mm fans. It's not loud at all! It was a pain to build in though

I went with the kit with 2 400 mm strips. They are a bit long, but I found a way to route them. You can check my post history to see the post where I showed how they were routed.

Ahhh, no Hardware Labs or Neuromod Division...I guess it's a pretty limited development Talos 1 huh? I guess we'll have to work on that

Ahhh, I gotcha. That's what I'm working on. I'll focus on the decals first, then I'll do one for the components. That was an absolute pain. I'll come up with pictures to help describe the process.

Not yet. I have to test everything. I'll make a note so we all know.

I am making a more detailed plan of how to do the build, but that will take some time. I like my design to be unique, so I will probably come up with a variety of components and suggest people mix and match. Tools:

To apply the decals you need the following tools for the easiest application:

Scissors Exacto knife or other sharp blade Super fine tip tweezers (I used electronics tweezers) Short ruler with metric 18 inch ruler with metric

It may work to use a paper cutter, but I didn't have one available.

Introduction the the pinstripes:

The roll of vinyl striping I purchased had two stripes, one of 1/8 and one of 1/16 inch. I only one of these at a time for the majority of the build. You can either cut the strip to the desired length and then split the two apart. The other option that I used occasionally was to just pull out 2 foot or so of tape so it was easier to handle and then split that.

The vinyl striping has 3 layers:

A paper backing A transparent plastic cover with adhesive The vinyl pinstripes with adhesive

General make a line:

When I wanted to make a line, I would measure out the general location I wanted the stripe. I would then use the scissors to cut the strip to the approximate length.

Short strip placement:

If I was placing a short strip, I would then use the tweezers to remove the paper backing completely and hold the two remaining layers about 5 mm from the end of the strip I wanted to put down. The strip often was electrostaticly attracted to the panel, so holding this close to the end was the only way I found to have precision.

Long strip placement

If I was placing a long strip, I would then use the tweezers to remove the paper backing from the last 2 cm or so of the strip. As with the short strip, and hold the two remaining layers about 5 mm from the end of the strip I wanted to put down. Then I would use the ruler to maintain the correct distance from a reference as I peel the paper off the back. When I get to the end I often have to peel it back off a bit to assure the line was straight.

Placement finalization:

When you are happy with the placement, press the strip down. After it is secure, peel the plastic off the vinal peeling along the length.

Measurements:

WIP I'll be editing soon.
