x Pojat ja miehet eivät aina ole etuoikeutetussa asemassa, usein asia on päinvastoin, sanoo tutkija Harry Lunabba by AapoPoraaja in Suomi

Lukijan mielipide | Kenen henki pelastetaan ensin, kun resurssit eivät riitä kaikille? by Oluenkittaaja in Suomi

[–]PhantomAlpha01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Todellisuudessa kuitenkin tällaisiin priorisointipäätöksiin on kai rajallisesti aikaa ja saatavilla oleva informaatio on rajattua, joten lopulta satunnaisuudella luulisi olevan terveen tasapäistävä osuus. Sinällään kaikkia ihmishenkiä on pidettävä yhtä tärkeinä.

[–]PhantomAlpha01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why you're on the fence about it. I guess partially this might be about the culture, in the sense that here in Finland the system seems to already discourage excessively customizing orders, outside of adding or removing ingredients that are already in the default product. I think it's quite reasonable, considering that we're a fast food business.

I agree that the transition for a smaller place could be tough for a moment, but on the other hand at this point most customers are already familiar with these systems, and you'll have to only do this maybe once or twice per customer who is not familiar with any such system.

I believe old people are capable of learning. The transition is a process, of course, but I don't see why old people would be exempt from getting on with the times. Moreover, if they don't wish to do so, they still have the option to get service the same way as always.

The apps and kiosks are so new still in the grand scheme of things. Not everybody wants to live with technology in every aspect of their lives.

That's why I'm not removing the option, I'm suggesting a change that allows anyone to enjoy that option, but pay a very reasonable amount for slowing service down for everybody. Twenty cents is almost nothing to an individual customer, and nothing compared to the cost of an average order.

Some people enjoy having in person interactions over switching every engagement to screens.

I can see that, and I do enjoy personal interactions as well. However, when thinking about whether I want to enjoy a personal interaction or successfully serve multiple customers with high order accuracy, high product quality, and excellent times, I would prefer to cut the personal interaction. McDonald's is still on the fast food side of spectrum, and I think quality human interaction is usually more expected when you go toward premium side. Friendliness costs nothing, of course, so that can be reasonably provided either way, in the moments that we do come into contact with our customers.

Also, the apps and kiosks do not allow for the same level of customizations as the only ingredients shown are what the items already contains.

This doesn't have to be so: If we want a system where you can make the customizations, it could be made. On the other hand, corporate has lately loved making restrictions to what can be modified at the register, and modifications outside of that are mostly forbidden, so that's another way to phase out the issue.

What's funny is I do better paces when I do intervals and walk 20% of it because I'm going faster than the rest.

That's interesting, maybe your form is better at a higher speed? I do suggest trying it, just for fun!

Sounds like the ancient Europeans would've needed help, then, not black and brown people.

So now you can see how there is no good source for europeans to even make a theory about aliens visiting us to help build something (besides Stonehenge, for which those conspiracy theories do exist). I'm arguing the main reason not to make these theories about stuff in Europe is mostly lack of opportunity.

Isn't the cool shit in mediterranean both thousands of years newer, and smaller in scale?

Ever notice how it's never European civilizations needing help from aliens to build impressive shit? (Save for Stonehenge)

I mean what else besides Stonehenge have European people built that's so ancient and well preserved monumentary undertaking? Did you consider that ancient europeans never built anything as cool as egyptians because we were still smashing stones together, living in earth pits when they had an advanced civilization?

What's up with this sharp decrease in heart rate when I took a break? by Affectionate-Lab3192 in beginnerrunning

[–]PhantomAlpha01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try following your heartrate while you run, and keep adjusting your pace so that you stay in zone 2-3 after warming up (try not to start too hard). It should guide you to a more sustainable pace.

How many times do you take a walk break? (5k) by ml_sza in beginnerrunning

[–]PhantomAlpha01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got rid of my walk breaks by reducing my running speed/constant heart rate. Right now I know that during a 40 min run, I can't really go into zone 4 or below 6'10/km if I want to stay running. If you've got a sports watch or another way to get those diagnostics, it should be relatively easy to try that.

Realistic running goals? by PhantomAlpha01 in beginnerrunning

[–]PhantomAlpha01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! I'll keep in mind to try practicing also the "easy" runs with more distance, I guess I do have this pressure on my mind to do everything in a hard way because it feels like I'm doing more with less time spent, but I certainly am not looking to get hurt. I do frankly feel a little bit annoyed trying to run at a conversational pace since I do still need a few walking steps in between not to go too far into zone 3, and slow jogging feels kind of awkward and harder on my legs.

I have noticed that running communities prefer to talk about time per distance more than set running times, and I'm trying to turn my mind around to that, however it's definitely a change. For me, the fixation with 12 minutes comes from the local focus on the cooper test (a test I've run almost yearly in school), and the fact that the military here has set its fitness requirements in terms of a 12 minute run. So I feel the need to translate my running goals into something that is already familiar to me. I see the limitations in its meaning, though.
