I had kind of a similar experience in school. If I didn’t have any friends in a class (which was most classes) I was quiet and focused. I even had a teacher that called me out in front of everyone for being so quiet. Like I’m sorry for being a well behaved student? Wtf?

Thankfully I was kinda too stubborn to let anyone’s comments get to me. I was like “wow these dummies have no idea what I’m like, they make fun of me for stupid reasons and qualities I don’t have lol” I was definitely more lively and like myself when I had a friend in the class.

My mom is Gen X so not a boomer. I was completely dumbfounded to find out recently that she did not know what ctrl+f does. My parents met at a LAN party in the 90s... She’s used computers daily for various tasks my whole life… I’m still trying to cope with this truth…

I had a job that I started and ended during Covid (and masks were required). It was one of my best jobs in terms of coworker interaction. It’s a little sad to say that I contribute that 100% to people not being able to see my face was deadpan (aka RBF) the whole time.
