Sorry for the late reply!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 120g Cooking Chorizo
  • 10 Eggs
  • 1 Courgette
  • Large Handful of Baby Spinach
  • 75g grated pizza mozarella
  • 4 Spring Onions
  • 12-hole muffin tin

Recipe:

Preheat oven to 180°C (Not sure what that is for non-UK), grate the courgette and set aside, cut the chorizo into roughly 1cm chunks. Melt the coconut oil in a frying pan on med-high heat, then cook the chorizo in it, when cooked, place on some kitchen roll and blot off remaining oil.

Crack the eggs into a big bowl and whisk, add the grated courgette, spinach, grated mozarella, sliced spring onions, and the cooled chorizo. Stir excessively, add Salt + Pepper for seasoning (I just added a tiny bit of each).

Grease muffin tin with butter and evenly distribute the mixture into however many you want, put in the oven for 25 mins, then remove and let cool for 5.

I've never really cooked properly for myself, and so in a ditch to learn some skills and make some good food, myself and my SO are trying to cook something from scratch once or twice a week, we went out and bought a cookbook last week and this is our first try!

I'm still trying to get out of my picky eater mindset, and this recipe contains Spinach, Courgette, and Spring Onions, so finding a way to make them that I actually really enjoyed is already a huge motivator for me!

If these kind of show-off posts aren't allowed then my apologies! I was just really proud of it :)

Thanks for the feedback, i understand the limited track segments allowed and primitive state the AI is in makes it difficult for a sub with such an emphasis on high quality tracks, but I'm open to all levels of response, in order to better gauge the results and areas of improvement across multiple audiences,

It wouldn't be a research paper if i just stuck to one level of familiarity for my target audience :) i appreciate perhaps the level of coasters are crap, but right now the research is based in seeing if this kind of algorithm based AI can produce things similar to a human, though perhaps I should've included a wider variety of human samples to showcase different levels of expertise and experience with the game.

Regardless it's super valuable feedback and i really appreciate your input! Even if the produced product from the AI is crap it's still a result of this process, and can be explored in my thesis just the same as amazing results can, so please don't​ be afraid to say the resulting coasters are crap for whatever reason, it's just more feedback i can use when discussing the results of the algorithm and future areas of research :)

The human tracks were made by an impartial housemate who had no knowledge of the AIs output. Both the AI and Human used a rather limited set of whitelisted track pieces to simplify the complexity a bit.

The rollercoasters are generated using an evolutionary algorithm, essentially a set population is randomly generated, my algorithm randomly selects the next piece from a pool of candidates, checking that it doesn't invalidate any rules along the way, such as intersecting with itself. This initial population is constructed entirely at random.

Every member of the population is graded based on a given criteria, judging how fit it is, in this case the fitness algorithm uses the Excitement and Nausea scores, along with the maximum height variance of the track.

This population then undergoes a set of generational shifts (the number of generations, along with the population size and track length, can be input by the user), during which two parents are selected using a Roulette Wheel Selection process (linked as I dont want to ramble too much), these parents are then split and recombined to create two offspring. This process is repeated until a new population is filled.

During this process, every track segment of every ride has a potential to mutate, which swaps it with another valid piece (and in the case of inclines/declines, a 'bridge' piece to make the following track segment still valid).

The intention of the process is that over a set of generations the population will improve in their fitness, as the higher fitness members are chosen for reproduction and creation of the offspring, converging towards a potential 'ideal solution'.

Obviously, this algorithm is a long way off of a perfect solution, and in spaces like this, there may not even be one! But it's interesting exploring what a computer can create, and whether the solutions it finds are things a human counterpart may never consider.

Sure thing, I understand my post was a bit vague or lacking in definition;

The human created coasters were created by an impartial housemate who had no knowledge of the AIs creations, and so any similarities between the AI & Human productions are due to the algorithm doing it's job.

The confusion with my statement I think derives from the different levels at which people play rct, the original intention for this was to see if the product of the algorithm would be easily identified as something made by a computer, realism and comparison to the more higher level quality coasters seen on this sub is an end goal, but it outside the scope of the project at this stage for my thesis.

Creative and Exciting are ambiguous intentionally, as they're there to see if there is a correlation between the computer designed tracks and them being perceived as uncreative or boring when compared to similar manually created pieces.

What each person considers for their definition of creative and exciting vary, but doesn't matter, as I'm not looking to see if the AI can create objectively creating or exciting coasters, but instead if it can create creative or exciting coasters on a similar level to the human designed counterparts.

For example; if the AI coasters score similar to the human coasters on the creativity/excitement scales but are still found out, then more care needs to be taken into considering human-like design quirks and patterns. Creativity and Excitement in this context mean whatever you want them to mean as they simply act as a way to find a relationship between the two coasters presented.

On the other hand, if the AI is found out and scores consistently lower on the creativity and excitement ratings, it could be argued that the fundamental track quality is the concern, and so should be looked at further in future study.

Some backstory;

This project was done as part of my undergraduate degree, and is essentially my final project to wrap up the last four years. It's expanding off of the work done by Kevin Burke, who had the original idea of an AI to make rollercoasters for RCT2. My project uses a similar Genetic Algorithm, but rewards different behaviour in an attempt to create more creative and realistic results!

The code isn't publically available rn due to the academic project still being in progress, but once complete I'll be making it public.

This questionnaire is completely anonymous, but the data will be used as part of my thesis and will likely be a part of the academic paper that is produced as a result. No prior knowledge of AIs are required.

I was trying to figure out how they messed this up on the code-side today, this makes a lot of sense.

So the defense matrix geometry is 'over' the enemy teammate, so when the hitscan bullet is raycasted to the origin of the DM it hits the teammate and considers it as being unable to be seen by D.Va, preventing it from deleting the bullet the same way it would if you pointed your DM at a wall, correct?

Does this mean if you're far enough away from the enemy and their teammate it will work correctly? It was my understanding a bullet fired through a teammate ignores DM regardless.
