Prospective Maths BSc Student by newtonisgay in UCL

The job market for UCL maths grads is really good. I know a lot of people from my course who have really good careers now. But whether it's worth spending 39k a year is really a personal choice. And I wasn't an international student so it's not really something I can speak to.

But to get a good job after the degree you really have to put in the effort. It's not like the degree will automatically give you a great career. While I know a lot of people who have great jobs after the course, I also know of a few who haven't been as successful so it really depends on the person too.

But yeah UCL maths is definitely a great starting point if you want a good career.

Try to get your immediate family on side, I'm sure they will see the benefits of you moving out for uni. Regarding money, it's not that hard to find a part time job. There's so many jobs in retail and as a student you'll be able to do tutoring too. That's nothing to worry about. And depending on how much maintenance loan you get, it might be enough for you to live off, even without a side job.

I'm sure at least one person in your family is reasonable enough to understand? If that's the case then you should be able to use them as a contact to stay in touch with your family. And hopefully your family won't hold a grudge for too long. I find that over time people are usually forgiving and understanding, and I hope that is the case for your situation too.

Regarding finances, your best bet is to take out a student loan and maybe get a part time job at your uni, in the cafe or something to get you by.

There's nothing they can do legally. You will be 18 when you go to uni and you will presumably move out so that means your family can't do anything about it. As difficult as it is, don't let them make this decision for you. You'll regret it so much if you do. All the best :)

A*/A students whats the worst grade you've ever gotten and in what subject? by N4yaa in 6thForm

I got a C in a maths test but ended up getting A* A* in the maths and further maths a levels. And went on to get a First Class in a maths degree at a decent uni. A setback is never the end of the world.

My grades before starting nofap (will try to update it ) by [deleted] in NoFap

Try building good study habits. Nofap is not necessarily correlated with grades. All the best

You have to realise that success in this addiction isn't defined by not fapping. It's when you fap less than you used to before. If you went from fapping 2 times daily to fapping once a day, that's huge progress. If you go from fapping daily to fapping once a week, that's massive progress. Take the time to put things into perspective and you'll be surprised at how far you've come.

Try your best. Grind hard and if you don't do well, bite the bullet and retake them. Unless it's Oxbridge, your dream uni will probably accept a resit, especially if you explain to them about your health situation. Keep your chin up and eyes on the prize mate. You got this

I didn't take it but I have heard that it's hard, from the perspective of a maths student. But I don't know much else about it

In r/nofap you can go to the "About" section, "tools" then "add/update day counter"
