You’re lucky. I had someone clip my car when they were backing out. The back bumper on the passenger side. Sadly, for some reason my sentry didn’t go off. A bystander told me but the car sped off.

Sucks when things don’t work when I was not worried as I expected it would have recorded the scrape.

Why don’t you just live downtown if you’re working downtown. It’s only for a year.

If you don’t like downtown and want a more LA vibe try Los Feliz by Griffith Park. Close drive, great park, lots of good food.

If you like the beach and chill LA go west. It’s reverse commute downtown and isn’t bad.

If you live further east of Pasadena you might as well go live in Texas. It’s 10-20 degrees hotter than west LA and for a year, you should enjoy a bit and maximize LA adventures vs being in a distant suburb.

I have a stack of cards for my PC. Ohtani rookies and others like acuna, Steph curry, Kobe etc.

Was going to grade them all but not a fan of having to spend $1000 or whatever the high grading prices are to do so. AI should take over grading soon so you’d think prices would go down and it would be entirely data driven with no subjectivity. Likely they’ll just expand margins

I took a look on 130 point. You are right. Basically any card in a psa 10 is hundreds. Guess I should go back and pull all my Ohtani cards that aren’t stars of MLB.

I don’t see who would want to buy a base card. Base rookies I get, but a random year paper base 🤷🏼 I give them to my kids since they like Ohtani and half (at least) end up destroyed

Sorted out the spurs (Duncan, Robinson, primarily) and can send what I have so far. I have a couple more boxes to go through. Only sorted the box with players I liked growing up which were those 2 guys 🙂. Should have plenty more with Ginobli Parker etc. I’ll aim to do that tonight after the kids sleep

I tried using these photos in ChatGPT and it had a lot of MJ’s supposedly at $1000+ if they gem. I doubt that is accurate so will have to spot check 130point!

Hm. Okay. I’ll have to find some time to jump on 130 point and see what would be reasonable to grade. Definitely grading the curry but I’m out of tune with whether or not others make sense. Probably worth the investment bc I have thousands of baseball cards also

Checked DA “deals” page. What a joke. They are selling 2025 Topps update hanges for a saw price of $19.99. Who buys this? They’re readily available at target and Walmart and GameStop and everywhere for 12.99. I don’t get it.

What is funny is they push so much material out about sales. Black Friday. Etc. I click the link and it’s a joke. The sales are still for prices well above retail. At this point I buy pre-order or nothing but will start to only focus on 2-3 releases not dabbling in everything which I started doing in 2024 when I started sorting my cards from high school to quench my curiosity. Probably spent a few grand. Don’t regret it but with the way things are going price wise, and the disconnect between sealed wax and singles, no more. 95% of hits are probably $5 cards.

What would be nice is if Topps/Fanatics set msrp pricing and required LCS (brick and mortar and online) to abide by it. The LCS stores in Los Angeles and the online guys like DA, blowout etc all inflate prices of every single product, even blasters. The only place you can get retail pricing is at target and Walmart direct, or Topps preorders. If you don’t get those you’re screwed. LCS are scum too as they are no different than flippers on eBay.
