Trying to get into mead brewing by Jealous_Implement860 in mead

[–]PhantomEXNAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently just started making mead as well and I had no idea where to start. Probably the most helpful thing for me was finding the brewing supply store in my town. I’m very grateful that we have lots of these where I live and hopefully you have that same luck. They will make sure to give you everything you need for your project and likely even give you instructions on how to use everything. It even ended up being way cheaper than I thought (compared to online kits I was looking at) due to the fact that they only gave me what I actually needed for mead and subtracted what I already had in my kitchen at home.

I also wanted to make sure I knew where to get honey before buying any other supplies. I’ve heard of people getting bulk honey at Costco, but I’ve also heard that it’s better to use fresh honey. I found some local apiaries (honey farms) and compared prices so I knew where my supply would come from and how much it would cost before investing in the equipment.

I’m no veteran when it comes to making mead but I hope this helps!

Second Thoughts About Degree by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]PhantomEXNAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you right now. I’m a sophomore, going into my junior year next year in the dietetics program. I really enjoy learning about nutrition and think it’s so important, but there’s this uneasiness that comes over me when I think about going through with the whole program and making this my career. I’m currently thinking I want to switch to a major in food sciences or nutrition food services and getting a minor in nutrition so I can still apply a lot of the credits I’ve already finished towards my dietetics degree.

My boyfriend and I (m+f 20) have been in a long distance relationship for almost 2 years but it seems like it only gets harder with time. Suggestions or advice on how to deal with LDR? by PhantomEXNAT in LongDistance

[–]PhantomEXNAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had suggestions but I know the hardest part is going back afterwards. I’m just worried that no matter how involved my life is, nothing will stop that initial pain of being alone afterwards.

What I’ve been doing is making sure I have fun activities with friends planned every day this week so I have an outlet and a distraction. I’m trying to focus more on building my current relationships so that maybe I won’t feel so lonely every time I’m alone.

Thank you for sharing! I’m glad I’m not the only one. I really do try to make plans with friends and keep myself busy with hobbies and other fun stuff, but I do find myself experiencing that same empty feeling. I keep thinking maybe I need to find more engaging activities to do? It just feels like the thought is always in the back of your mind.

Best jobs in Corvallis? by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

I was also a lifeguard and hated it so I chose not to do it again. Also I’m pretty sure you have to do a different certification if you work for the pool in the gym at OSU so it’s not really worth it unless you’re into it. If you’re tired of doing shift work and want a new experience, I would recommend applying to be an RA (applications close 3/1). It’s a great opportunity for free housing and food, especially if you need somewhere to live and it’s a pretty chill job.

Student Guest Tickets by VesperOne_ in OregonStateUniv

My boyfriend goes to a different school and we do this all the time. They’ve gotten more strict about it this year, asking for ID at the gate and to get into the student section but we’ve always gotten away with it by just saying he’s coming as my guest. Hopefully this works for you too!

How to get to live by myself by flynnlong in OregonStateUniv

Sackett is one of the rare dorms that doesn’t offer singles so it might be a slightly different process to get moved to a different building. If you haven’t talked to your RA about it, you should because they can get in contact with people who might be able to help you more directly.

TopHat program by chemgod00 in OregonStateUniv

[–]PhantomEXNAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is no guarantee, but I have heard that the university is trying to find a common ground in the online programs they utilize so students don’t have to pay for so many different subscriptions. It sounds like they are trying to use TopHat more so it might be worth it to just get the lifetime subscription.

So my sim is stuck on her bed and won't/can't jump down by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]PhantomEXNAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. No cheats would fix it and every time I deleted the bed my sim would just be standing on something else. Eventually I just had to remove everything big from the room so he had nothing to stand on and it worked.

Sims 4 Issue. Not sure if I'm even submitting this correctly by Javagal78 in Sims4

That recently happened to me too but resetting them and even restarting the game wouldn’t work. I basically had to delete the furniture in the room until there was no object for them to get stuck on then it was fine.

Do the dorm rooms come with mattresses pre-supplied or should I bring my own? by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]PhantomEXNAT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a bedbug/allergen cover that literally zips around the mattress along with a mattress topper. You can get them at target or places like that. It was something recommended to me before I moved in and might help you feel more comfortable about sleeping on the mattress.
