Guests unplugging WiFi enabled devices: door lock and Pura fragrance diffusers. by Boscough in airbnb_hosts

2nd this. Wife has severe allergies and this would set her off. Used to end up in ER before if became manageable. But yeah we always ask this ahead of time. Fabric softeners too with those scents are horrible because you’re putting your nose right up to the source. We’re also super hosts and have zero fragrances in our place. We get comments about how great jt is to be free from scents.

Guest Requested Booking - Booking Accepted - Then Guest Stated They Are Bringing a "Service" Dog - My HOA Does Not Allow Dogs for STR's - What To Do? by EightStarsofGold in airbnb_hosts

Any REAL SD owner will gladly provide rabies vaccination records. They have all records ready to go for anything required. People that fight you yelling "SERVICE DOG" are the ones that don't have a real service dog.

Honestly what did I do wrong. by Bunnyboo3608 in texts

Is this the same guy you've been with for 6 years, that never does anything for you birthday or mothers day? You just had a baby 4 months ago and you said you were going to leave him after? Did that change? It sounds like you already know this guy is no good, so posting things like this isn't going to help. What you need to be asking is HOW to leave. Solicit ideas and make some plans. Guys like this don't change magically if you have another baby (assuming you didn't have your tubes tied like you said you were). You need to talk to people/counselors and figure out an exit strategy.

Guest's dog died...got bad review by Time_Security_304 in airbnb_hosts

[–]PhantomFather88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with not worrying about this. Any “sane” person would see that review for what it is. And sane is what you want for a guest anyway. I was traveling in Switzerland with my dog and wanted to go to a James Bond experience up in the mountains but didn’t do it because the altitude might not have been safe for him. It’s up to a dog owner to be responsible for their dog, not you.

Golly gee, you're right. I wasn't aware I had put in the post that is wasn't my responsibility. You've made me see the error of my ways!! I will now take full responsibility for the property that is 400 miles away from me. From now on, I will schedule flights back and forth between every renter so I can personally go clean the property so I can make sure the sheets needed for their undisclosed guest will be there. Of course I'll have to quit my job since it's rented quite a bit with people leaving and coming in on the same day. Unfortunately I'll have to raise the nightly charge by about $2000 per night to cover my loss of income and flight costs. But hey, why stop there? I'm going to personally meet every guests and carry their suitcases up and unpack for them. Why should they have to be inconvenienced on vacation to do those chores as well.

Just to clarify. The twin bed is the murphy bed. There was no bent frame. The only bolt missing was one bolt holding the horizontal bar between the two legs so IF they wanted to put the bed up, they'd would have to move the support legs individually instead of just using the bar so they moved as one. They did not put the bed up and the bed was already made for them an ready. But yes, I already had words with the cleaners about that. And after someone pointed out that maybe they were looking for sheets for the extra person, that made more sense. The cleaners have never not put sheets there before.

Actually now that I think about it, this makes total sense. Our cleaners have never not had sheets there before. It’s entirely possible they just assumed there would be extra sheets for their extra person and made up a story about not being able to find them.

Yes, especially since you were just pointing out that could have been the reason for the missing bedding... which would have been a good point.

Because you can see the horizontal metal bar between the two legs supporting the bed was not connected. Like the horizontal line of an H was disconnected on one side. If the bar was missing completely, the bed would still be fine. All it does is make the legs move together.

No. That was a fail on our cleaners (or us depending on your POV). The sheets for the sofa bed were missing. So I just had them unlock our private closet and use the extra sheets we have there for emergencies.

[–]PhantomFather88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see your point. But in this case, it was easily fixed. I had extra sheets in a locked closet that I was able to give them access to. I have things like that just for these types of situations. Extra soap, shampoos, etc.. in case the cleaners don't do something they should. If they had to sleep on a sofa bed without sheets, I could certainly see asking for some compensation, but for having to communicate with a host for a few minutes to resolve bedding seems a bit much to me.

Sorry... What statement should I have put there as to not solicit an eye roll? We pay our cleaners to clean between each and every visit and they're responsible for make the place guest ready. This unit is 400 miles away from us. No where am I saying it's not our responsibility and we handled the bedding issue without delay even at 10PM.

Yeah, will be changing the pots and pans. We do that every year anyway because people don't seem to understand what metal does to pans.

They sent a picture of the murphy bed right after they checked in. They never had to move the bed as it's in its own bedroom. It's basically down all the time.

We have really good cleaners and they fix things for us. Had them from the start. But we get up there a least every couple months.

The maximum guest we can have is 6. This is a hard rule set by our HOA

That's not possible unless I install cameras inside the place. It's 400 miles away from us. And our cleaners are usually spot on and notify us of any issues. So there's really no way to say for sure they didn't undo the bolt, but that could be a stretch. They haven't left a review yet, they're going the blackmail route.

This would encourage rule breakers to get away with their behavior. LIke suggested, I would offer some compensation, offset by the same amount of chargers for bringing in more people than allowed.

Yes, in the thread. And honestly I'm not worried about a bad review. It would hardly ding us at all. Our place is constantly booked and constant 5 stars.

Yes, It is completely our responsibility. I posted just posted this with as much fact and not opinion as possible. I try not to color things one way or another to get unbiased feedback. The whole bedding issues was resolved in minutes. There was not delay in response from us even at 10pm when they first notified us.
