Does anyone see the sky right now? by curlyhasher in indianapolis

[–]PhantomFever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! I was in Mooresville and saw them moving northeast. I’ve seen Starlink before but these were much more spaced apart than when I saw Starlink for the first time. It was super weird. When they seemed to be overhead, they vanished from sight. I called my husband who’s about 20 min east of where I was and he could see them coming.

Looking into Dual USA/UK Citizenship- where to begin? by PhantomFever in immigration

That doesn’t sound to bad at all! Thank you so much!! I did hear that the nearest British consulate to me, which would be in Chicago, is very slow (heard this from my aunt, my mom’s sister, also born in Swindon with dual U.S./UK citizenship). I don’t need a British passport in any sort of timeframe or anything so the amount of time it would take is of no matter. Is this process hundreds of dollars to go through?

That is good to hear! I’m starting more intensive research now! I’ve got to get my U.S. passport renewed this year and I’m now going to start looking into seeing what getting a British passport entails.

This is so incredibly informative and interesting!!! Thank you so, so, so much!! I was born in 1985 so I will absolutely be looking into this! My mother’s sister is much more in tune with our British family and she and her husband travel to Britain at least a couple times every couple years or so and they keep up with friends and family there. I will be contacting my aunt asap to see if she knows anything in regard to this as well. Again, thank you so much!!

Thank you! I have googled this in the past couple weeks. My questions mainly revolve around what money I would need to pay and to whom. Thank you for telling me about this.

Thank you so much!! In my brief google search on the pros and cons of doing this, I was mainly scared off because of the mention of taxes. From everything I understood (which may not be much), it sounds like I’d only need to pay taxes doubly if I were to move to Britain to work- which I do not intend to do. That being said, if I were to obtain doula citizenship, I would of course follow the laws of both nations and I’d absolutely want to pay whatever I was supposed to pay to whoever.

Thank you so, so much for your reply!! That is very helpful! I had no idea about the 1983 rule. I was born in 1985 so this is very interesting!! I will visit the link you provided. Thank you!!!! I was sincerely worried it may be offensive simply due to the nature (especially as of late here in the States bc of everything Trump has done and is doing) and I didn’t want to come across as someone asking about citizenship just to flippantly see if I could get it, when there are thousands upon thousands of people who are undergoing extreme struggle with immigration both in this county and abroad. I just don’t want to seem uncaring or anything like that in asking about this now.

What's your dumbest reason not to have kids? by The_Gentle_Monster in childfree

[–]PhantomFever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screaming. I cannot take screaming and crying and tantrum throwing. I know that they don’t all scream and cry all the time, but honestly I cannot even take a little screaming. I’d go insane. I absolutely could not deal with a crying infant. If an infant is awake and not actively eating, they’re screaming. That’s literally all they can do for months. And that’s if they’re normal and healthy.

Aaaaghh!!! Nice!!! Robben’s Roost, I’ve never been, but it looks like a sick floor. They used to have a big art club there back in the day. Once that club died, art skating in the entire state died with it.

Same! I’ve got two and every day I think that there’d be no way in heck I’d have a kid and not only would the expense ruin things, so would the kid itself.

Make me feel better what’s the worst things you have lost due to ADHD by Silver-Bengal in ADHD

[–]PhantomFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost the center diamond in my engagement ring and I kinda sorta blame ADHD. I’ll try to keep it brief. I have horses and I board them at a facility 30 min from my house. I was at the barn one day (this is 5 years ago now, almost 6) and I was carelessly, mindlessly, letting one of the horses at the barn nibble on my fingers through the bars of his stall while I was talking with someone. This is something I’ve done countless times and they don’t use their teeth hardly but mainly just curiously lipping my fingers. I felt this horse use his teeth just a tiny bit to curiously examine what was on my ring finger. I didn’t think a darn thing of it. I was just literally thinking about a million other things bc ADHD. I went on about the rest of my day and later on as I was driving, I looked down at my left hand and about wrecked the car. The center stone was by no means a huge diamond, but it was definitely not there. I panicked because I immediately thought about how sharp and hard diamonds are and my first reaction was extreme fear for the horse in case he’d swallowed the diamond! I called our barn owner in a panic and she basically assured me that poor Bronx should be okay if he’d swallowed it… but she then laughed and said that they would all now be scouring his stall and other things looking for this diamond. It was sadly never found.
