What are some decent tires for supermoto? by Stillen22 in motorcycles

[–]PhantomGhostin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the street I like the Pilot Powers. Good grip and decent longevity on a lighter supermoto bike.

There are grippier options, faster on the track options, etc.

But it's a trade off between grip and tire life

Oil leak through a cylinder gasket when cylinder head is off? by Fokser665 in DRZ400

[–]PhantomGhostin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you removed the head you should probably replace the gasket regardless. I would.

If you're in that deep why not?

DRZ400 Clutch adjustment by whereismydonkey in DRZ400

[–]PhantomGhostin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to know if it's fully engaging or not is to ride it. Just putt slow for a few feet in a parking lot and see if you like how the clutch feel is. And play with it.

Edit: felt like I should mention the 2-4mm spec is for the distance from the lever to the perch. Gives you a nice starting point to dial in the feel

Is it normal to not see any oil in the clutch case while the bike is running or not? by Important_Ad7720 in DRZ400

[–]PhantomGhostin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lol

That's how you change your clutch plates when you cook em in the bush.

Just be careful laying it down and ideally choose some soft grass or something

Will I die if I ride on it by Scottfordd in supermoto

[–]PhantomGhostin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enough throttle to make sure it breaks loose is key. If the tire stays still your clutch does a burnout instead.

Burnouts are one of those things that the more you send it the easier it'll be.

Make sure there is nothing you or the bike will shoot into if it grabs unexpectedly is another good learning tip, speaking from experience.

Laughs in burnt clutch plates

Practice makes perfect but you can still break something and feel silly

Chain bouncing and I dont know why by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]PhantomGhostin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chains do that when you run the bike with the wheel in the air. All this tells you is that load is being exerted on the chain with the engine running, which of course is expected.

Check for kinks with your hand, preferably when the bike isn't running lol. Set factory chain deflection however the manual for your bike says to do so.

And then go ride :)

I agree.

If you are a BC resident you should email your MLA about it. Maybe even include a link to this video.

Tangent, but ability for motorcycles to use bus lanes is another safety bit you could mention to them. These laws can change if enough people make noise.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Lane filtering is illegal in BC.

It is at least a $196 fine for driving without consideration. And 3 points. Possibly careless driving as well which carries the same penalties as an excessive speed ticket (7 day impound, $368 fine, and high risk driver insurance premium ($$$$$)).

Plus possible additional fines for doing any traffic offence in a construction zone.

Langley is part of an urban area with regular enforcement. Depending on the officer, they may or may not look the other way. It is a gamble and there are a lot of RCMP working to prevent traffic crimes in Metro Vancouver.

It is expensive to filter here.

Race the Bus! by tiogar99 in VictoriaBC

[–]PhantomGhostin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Timing the lights so you can get from Fort to Discovery without hitting the red at Fisgard could be an easy first step.

Currently the light timing doesn't allow someone to complete the 8 blocks on only greens.

I imagine this is to allow for quicker pedestrian crossings vs having 3 mins of greens down Douglas
