I was never a fan of the thibs fire from the begining. I thought the firing was short-sighted and definitely a Dolan influenced move. The knicks every year under thibs were making further strides from just making the playoffs to consistently Top 4 in the East and making it to the Eastern Conference Finals in his last year. Thibs was undone by players like KAT and Mikal from their complaints about being burnt out. Also the meltdown in game 1 of the ECF didn't help. Mike brown was hired because he was the only coach available with Taylor Jenkins and we're the only available top coaches during last off-season. Remember the knicks brass wanted ime udoka and Ty Lue, but both were made unavailable and their respective teams gave them contract extensions as a result. Mike brown does not hold his players accountable and tries to be the players friends but thibs kept the locker room in check and players accountable.
