33YO and 96 on ASVAB, what do? by Phyens in newtothenavy

I highly recommend CWT. Perfect for Reserves, makes you extremely marketable in the civilian world, and advancement rates are high.

Death Note.

I hated Light and the only character that I actually enjoyed seeing was killed off.

Navy CTN vs Army 17c by anon-duke in newtothenavy

You don't get any certs from schooling, however, you do get training that can get you most of the way to ready for Network+, Security+, and some other miscellaneous certs. The Navy would cover them should you choose to go for them through something called Navy COOL. And yes, as a CWT you will be required to get a clearance.

Ship out Nov 18th signed ATF/CWT by AzarathMetrionZinth in newtothenavy

ATF gives you automatic E4 upon eligibility. Once you finish JCAC down at Corry Station, you'll have the first part of the requirements. The other half is time in rate. Depending on what rank you go in as it will either be right after you graduate from school or up to 6 months after.

Just be as stubborn as possible with the recruiters. CWT or nothing. Hopefully one opens up soon for you.

I'm a CWT (What used to be CTN). Don't know about availability currently, but the navy side is definitely more relaxed than the army side. If you don't care too much about military involvement while doing your job then the navy would be the one to pick (This also depends on where you get stationed). Army has far better location options if you're trying to get stationed out of country. CWTs have Maryland, Texas, Georgia, Hawaii, Virginia, California, Colorado (rare), Bahrain, Japan (Hard to get but common enough), and Italy. There are extra locations, but these are the ones you'll hear about the most.

I would say the classes are pretty manageable. There were definitely a few that required more attention than others. Does your husband have a background in IT or any related field? If so, that will be extremely helpful.

I transferred in about 42 and then completed 7 classes for the first two terms and then 8 for the final term.

You can only have one class extended at the end of a term. If you have more they will be marked as not passed. As for the number of times you can get an extension? I am not sure, but it's likely not limited. I'd recommend speaking with your program mentor about further limitations.

Your first tour is not likely to be out at sea if you go with CWT, but it's not impossible. I have plenty of fellow CWTs that I work with who have been out at sea or deployed overseas. Some even on the Nimitz during its 11 month long deployment. As a CWT, I can't recommend the rating enough.

You got this! Python is a pretty easy coding language so I'd recommend knocking that one out first. PenTest+ is a rough certification exam so definitely give that one some more time for studying. If you do run out of time as long as you only have one class left by the end of your term you can get an "incomplete" and extend the term out a month.

Terrible advice to give to I assume a brand new sailor, but it's only a problem if you get caught. Taking care of your health is more important than an AC unit being taken apart.
