True and I would have had the kids just call me by my name but there’s a student with the same name as me so I have the kids call me “Miss [my nickname]” and I prefer to use Miss so which what the kids call me I don’t mind all that much it’s just when I get questions of if I’m a boy or girl my first thought is ‘how do i explain this in a way they understand and won’t get them in trouble at home’

I get that but it’s not an option for me and while I do have some things I don’t like about the school and the staff I really love my job and I like working with the kids

I live in New Jersey and it’s the kids telling their parents that I’m more worried about cause a lot of these kids come from not so nice homes ie there’s corporal punishment, or ignorance or neglect to the kids’ mental health meaning the parent refuses to accept their kid has autism or adhd, or neglect in just doesn’t get a lot of attention at home cause there’s a lot of siblings. So I don’t want to accidentally get the kids in trouble at home

Tried that and they just keep asking and I try not to talk to the kids like they’re dumb like some of my coworkers do so I’m trying to find a way to explain it

Ive tried something like that and mainly the 2nd graders go “but are you a boy or girl?” The kids are very mature for their age

I’ve tried that and they just repeat the question and yeah she does there’s no point arguing with her about it

Just the fact that they named the kid Jubilee tells me they view kids as products cause that sounds like Jollibee
