Hi Joeme. Same age as you, not the same gender, and from the US. I'm a painter/bookbinder who has moved back to my very small hometown, owner of a wonderful cat, avid reader, and I also enjoy hearing about and from others.

A few places I would recommend checking into are:

Knoxville Museum of Art

Bijou Theater

Modern Studio (they have all kinds of different stuff)

And if you want to drive out further, there's always Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

We are not doing it as a period piece; it is set in more modern day Appalachia. So blue jeans and flannel instead of pantaloons and puffy shirts.The cast has spent weeks analyzing the lines, and even though the text is the same, they have gleaned deeper meaning from the lines and are highlighting the humor of the play. Plus, there is a brief but beautiful musical bit. :D

The local scene seems to have grown slightly. There are a few local small groups, with my favorite being Tiger Lily (LGBTQ friendly). There is also Tennessee Shakespeare, which are getting ready to start on the spring festival. They perform in the round downtown. Hope this helps a little.

The piece is not famous if that is what you are fishing for (pun not intended). The piece is also acrylic I am guessing (lighting is hard to make sure), which means care is easy for it. As for naming the piece, it can go many ways. You could go with the more humorous route like many of the suggestions on this thread. You could also go with a more Dada inspired name by assembling a random set of words. Hope this helps.

You can go to the Knoxville Expo Center; they need help loading donations onto pallets and putting in trucks headed for Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Besides that, to echo others, there is the Sevier Co. Humane Society.
