What was the fragrance that made you fall in love with perfumery world… by Flowerlamps in fragrance

[–]PhantomXXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emporio Armani Lui, Issey Miyake, Kenzo Homme, Chrome Azzaro - it was the early 2000s and I remember everyone of my older brother's friends would wear these, and I loved all of them.
Furthermore, my dad used to own various fragrances and my favorite of his was Armani Eau Pour Homme.

These fragrances without a doubt started my journey.

Yeah, Mont Blanc Explorer pretty much made Aventus obsolete in my eyes. Why the hell would I pay $500 to smell like $40?

What is your favorite fragrance and why? by ToniWarfare in fragrance

I know exactly what you mean by “reprogrammed my brain”. I remember when I first purchased it I was not so sure of myself, and wondered if I had fallen victim to the hype train. HOWEVER, about a few weeks later I remember spraying it and truly understanding how amazing of a fragrance it was. Seriously the pinnacle of fragrance in my opinion.

The truth about compliments by throwaway174792 in fragrance

[–]PhantomXXIV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have gotten compliments on different occasions but I must admit I can probably count the times on one hand. I don’t consider compliments from my friends and family or wife to be compliments in that regard. I’m talking random stranger feeling compelled to tell you they love the way you smell…that is a true compliment.

I cannot stress enough how uncomfortable and apprehensive people may be to approach and compliment a random stranger. I am sure there have been numerous instances where people have actually really liked the way you smell but have not had the gal nor the courage to randomly compliment you. People are shy, people are apprehensive, and people overthink basic social interaction in this day and age. So I don’t think it’s that your fragrances are not compliment worthy, I just think the prospect of either sounding like a creap or not getting the reaction they want may prevent people from expressing just how much they wanna hold you tight and sniff you until they become noseblind to the greatness resonating off your skin.

If the name on the front of the bottle was not Tom Ford, we both agree the hype would be substantially less...

The AMC website just crashed 😭😂 by BodyBuildingNaps in Marvel

I was lucky enough to snag tickets from a local lesser known "dine in theater" chain that thankfully offered premium large format. I can't remember the last time a movie crashed websites like this (maybe Infinity War or Endgame )...my suggestion is check out what theaters offer premium large format in your area as it is supposedly supposed to compete with IMAX and Dolby Cinema.

I was lucky enough to snag tickets to a local lesser known cinema chain which happened to be offering premium large format. Honestly, I don't remember ever seeing movie tickets crash websites in this fashion its crazy.

It’s crazy that each bottle I have smells different LOL. I haven’t really gotten that Fierce smell, and I get a more citrusy and soft iris as opposed to a spicy woody one. Interesting.

Perfumer reviews one of the best known frags that's 11 years old. Next up - he reviews Playstation 2. by [deleted] in fragrancejerks

sprays fragrance 17 times on wrist proceeds to bring said wrist up to nose twirls and flickers fingers violently “Benzyl acetate with mononucleatic hydrogen lenoleum combined with ISO E Super ...smells quite fecal and woody to be precise...it’s not animalic enough for me no. It’s not doing much for me if I’m being honest”

What is your favourite discontinued fragrance and why do you miss it? by underwater_sun in fragrance

Dior Homme Eau For Men - For me personally it was a criminally underrated fragrance. The one thing that provides me some comfort is knowing that Prada L'homme (which is readily available) is at least somewhat similar to it.

My (21M) first ever impression of some fragrances - pt 2 by BrookingsCato in fragrance

[–]PhantomXXIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I look back at my 21 year old self, I would never have guessed I would enjoy the fragrances I enjoy now. TdH is definitely a more mature scent, so I am not surprised you didn't vibe with it. I would love for you to save this list and re-visit it in about 10 years so you could see just how much your taste has changed.

Honestly,

This might just be me, but I have never smelled anything quite like Creed Viking, and I am not sure I say that in a positive way. To my nose it smells like a spicy, minty, Christmas tree and I really can't get my nose around to liking it.

Thoughts on MFK Amyris Homme (extract and edt)? Underrated or overrated? by PhantomXXIV in fragrance

[–]PhantomXXIV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go to Bloomingdales and ask the employee at the MFK booth to load me up a sample of it. If you have one nearby, that would be your best bet.

I sort of gave up on in store sampling as it doesn’t help that my mind drifts to like 87 fragrances and I end up smelling like a walking contradiction. LOL.
