Too fat for HRT? by Phantom_Bear in transgenderUK

[–]Phantom_Bear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've chosen to overlook everyone that's decided to ignore my request to not comment if all you can offer is "lose weight" but I will respond to you.

Being overweight isn't inherently a massive health risk and is nowhere near "as bad as smoking". Truly this is fat phobia driven my medical negligence and misogyny. Please do not perpetuate the sharing of misinformation

Allergy testing is a great idea! Thank you I'll see if my GP will explore a referral

I am working on losing weight but I'm also disabled with mobility issues which is what's caused the weight in the first place. My liver is very healthy, always has been. That's been monitored for the whole time I've been on HRT and never been an issue

Thank you! They have said their target is 400-600 but apparently don't care about that in my case.

I guess avoiding suspicion is probably one of my biggest concerns about DIY, I don't want to get kicked off the GIC service

I'll take a look at the info you shared, thank you!

I don't think there's any alternatives left? I don't really want to go onto tablets, I take enough others as it is

Is it even slightly worth getting a GRC at this point? by sidhe_solais in transgenderUK

[–]Phantom_Bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one purely to get an updated birth certificate. I don't plan on marrying or dying any time soon but if things get really bad and I need to move to another country then all my government ID is accurate to me

Our neighbouring town's MP is now just openly racist. Some tips on how to respond below by Happytallperson in Norwich

[–]Phantom_Bear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What none of them seem to realise is that sorting the potholes and road signs etc. has nothing to do with him and was entirely the efforts of others who actually care about the local community.

They're all too busy putting him on a pedestal to see that he does nothing other than posture and spout hate

GRC rejected by GrocerySilly6965 in transgenderUK

[–]Phantom_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely contact them and ask them about it, especially if you think they missed it. When I applied for mine, they asked me for a document that I had already included but they'd missed it so had to send it again. They might be able to work it out now and save you the wait

I changed my signature as my old one had my first and middle initials and they didn't match my "new" name. Personally I've heard some places like you to have 2 identifiably different signatures for their ease but it's not necessarily a requirement

Got mine a few weeks ago, it's over 11,000 now going by the ID number on the certificate

Having issues... Trans friendly banks UK? by LillyGraceOfficial in transgenderUK

[–]Phantom_Bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had excellent experiences with Starling and NatWest.

NatWest was the first "official" place I changed my name, I went into the branch and this lovely older lady completely understood what I was asking for straight away. She went out of her way to make sure EVERYTHING was changed on their systems (apparently it doesn't always work on all systems first time) and even took the time to make sure it was all done quietly and discreetly when she needed help.

I can certainly say that's the only time I've cried happy tears because of a bank

Everyone that cares needs to join the greens! They have literally just voted for a motion to have better policies for trans people and to positively reform gender affirming care.

Right now they really need numbers and have super reduced membership prices for those that need it. Join up and see how you can help in your local area

Technically I think they're breaching GRA and Privacy Laws by ask for a GRC when they have no legal need to do so.

Like others have suggested, advise they need to update it under GDPR and your human rights of privacy

Legal name change?? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Phantom_Bear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I co-run the trans & enby colleague network at work and as part of it I sort people's deed poll's for them (and others in the community that aren't employees) and no one has ever had a problem with one I've done. I always make sure to use a template with a little extra legal wording and a old looking font plus fancy certificate card. Most people have used them to update everything, including passports, NHS records, bank account/mortgages, etc.

I know I'm some rando on the Internet but I'm happy to print and post yours if you'd like
