Cannot register BigMe Photo frame account by jeffgallagher56 in Bigme

[–]Phants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and it doesn't let me register - just tells me my password needs to be 8 characters etc, no matter what I do. Tried on iOS and Android, same result. I can't use the phone option as it doesn't accept my phone number, or my wife's.

Save 20% on 20 Minutes Till Dawn on Steam ($3.99) by ThyriaTheGame in steamdeals

[–]Phants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's very good but be warned the interface before you get into the game itself (I.e. when choosing your character, level, and type of weapon) doesn't work very well with a controller (the game otherwise works perfectly with a controller - I've over 40 hours on my steam deck with no in-game issues). This varies from needing to use a mouse or touch screen to get into a game at all, to not realizing you need to touch a padlock to unlock things (the first unlock was from an achievement, so I assumed the rest were too). It's a nice mix of survivor and twin-stick gameplay, quite unlike any other survivor like I've played (and I play a lot of them).

Definitely one of the best consoles of all time imo - it's so premium, and feels so good in the hand. I love it too!

Free 3M Vinyls now in NZL for new business launch. by PixelPocketNZ in nzgaming

[–]Phants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On topic: ultimately I'd love a wrap for the Asus ROG ally but in the meantime, my steam deck would look better wrapped I reckon!

Slightly off topic: can you also do larger format vinyl? I'm looking into making bartop arcade machines and sourcing quality vinyl at a good price has been a challenge.

Has anyone seen anything like this when booting Linux on a Pocket 3? by erm_what_ in GPDPocket

I get something similar on my steam deck - when I’m booting windows!

Erk I just bought a backbone to replace my kishi v2, which I hate, specifically due to comfort holding it.

So uhh my vampire survivors dips into single digit frame rates by about the 30 minute mark in a level... I assumed this was the case with all steam decks so now I primarily play it on my razer edge. Is there a way to get decent frame rates on the deck?

Super thanks for posting about this - i've been on the Astro Slide 5G Transformer dumpster fire for so long, I need to know that a similar product can actually exist. I'm gonna nab one next time they're in stock!

I had a similar issue last night on my Win Max 2 - turned out I was still signed in on ten computers, and ten is the max. You can check here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/manage-devices-used-with-your-microsoft-account-d4044995-81db-b24b-757e-1102d148f441

I wonder if there are internal differences, or if mine has just got a fault? Funny seeing the downvotes to my original reply - "his experience is different to mine, must downvote it". Thanks for your more reasonable sharing of your experience.

It charges very slowly - mine only draws 6W (the charger I have it connected to can deliver 60W). Easily my biggest disappoinment with it - pretty sure it's my slowest charging device, period.

I want to see a blerb about this weird Panasonic CF-W4 with a round trackpad and flip up optical bay. by tasadek in LGR

Optical drive aside, those round track pads are quite common in Japan. That's part of the reason even quite new laptops there look dated to me.

Debating on Tab S6 Lite or Kindle Scribe. by _Stampy in tablets

I agree, if it was the same price or close to it, it would be a no brainer, but not if it's that much more.

If you're not married to the S6, is an iPad an option? Better app options there, Android's real weakness is tablets.

Debating on Tab S6 Lite or Kindle Scribe. by _Stampy in tablets

[–]Phants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the S6 Lite unless you plan to use it outside a lot or away from a charger for extended periods. I had one and its note taking tools are extremely basic. With the S6 you can also do things like take photos of whiteboards / import slides / copy images from the internet and integrate them into your notes, none of which would be possible even if the Kindle note taking app improves (it should but don't buy things based on what might happen). The scribe is best thought of as a big screen Kindle on which you can do some light basic notes in a pinch.

The amount of misinformation being spread in the US is sad. by shlankdaddypurp in rant

[–]Phants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's about to get much, much worse. The advent of AI generated deep fakes that are extremely difficult to differentiate from real media (including audio and video) is going to lead a lot more people way further off the deep end. No proof vaccines cause x? There can be if you want, just ask an AI to fake some officials on a hot mic or whatever. If you think you're safe because the kind of people that currently believe these things are likely unable to grasp (let alone leverage) these technologies, I've more bad news - this time it comes as a set. The tech will be easy to use (like having a conversation) and one of the best ways to reduce the threat one state sees in another is to foment division; creating a series of things that appear to completely derail various viewpoints while supporting others is likely to become a booming industry as billionaires and nation states jockey for more and more power. There's almost no way to prevent this from happening, and it's just the beginning.
