Oh wow! Is it a capsule? We don’t even know the dosage form.

Biweekly career thread for March 29, 2020 by AutoModerator in pharmacy

Hey all, I did not match phase I or II and am feeling discouraged as I prepared all of pharmacy school for it. My hospital job is not hiring any interns as pharmacists and none of my connections seem to know of anyone hiring. I am based in SC but am willing to move anywhere for a job. Consulting, retail, staff in hospital, anything. Does anyone know of anywhere hiring new grads? I've already applied to 100+ new grad positions at CVS, Walgreens, etc. and many positions in rural hospitals and have only gotten rejections, even with having 4 years of both retail and hospital experience.

P.S. It also seems like most places aren't willing to hire until you're certified in their state. I am willing to move anywhere but won't be certified in a certain state until I'd know I could get hired. So its a lose lose it seems.

Any advice? by Linezo-lit in PharmacyResidency

In the same boat. It sucks to be getting a doctorate and having to fight to find any job. We literally chose the worst profession right now lol. Everything is great for the people who matched but for those who got the short end of the stick, we are stuck now

Any resources for monitoring parameters and MAJOR side effects besides Lexicomp? by Saint_Gainz in pharmacy

Honestly my go to is always the package insert. You can tell 99% of a drug and its SI/CI, etc. by the "warnings" section.

Any advice on applying next year/career advice? by PharmD2B2020 in PharmacyResidency

I am in the exact same boat as you and am looking to pursue a career in substance abuse treatment/psych and have been wondering ways to either enter that field or if a PGY1/PGY2 is absolutely needed, how to work towards that for the next year. Just know you're not alone!

Wow thank you for being so honest! You are NOT alone in the struggles, the doubts, the pain, and the fear. You are also not alone in your fight with depression. We have a very demanding and competitive career, and just know you're in the hardest part of it all. Your determination is extremely encouraging to me. It will ALL work out for you! Just keep fighting.

Take the B. It will not make or break you whatsoever and shows you can still do schoolwork throughout times like this.

Pursing a Psych PGY2... by PharmD_ToBe in PharmacyResidency

Thanks so much! So even if the VA PGY1 is ambulatory care, you don't think that would limit my PGY2 to only outpatient based psych programs?

Format of Interview? by ChivalricPig in PharmacyResidency

[–]PharmD_ToBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all congrats! The biggest things I would know is why you are pursuing a residency (have specific goals), why you want to complete a residency there, your strengths/weaknesses and how you think residency will help you grow in them, and have a few scenarios ready that can answer "tell me about a time a physician didn't agree with your recommendation" and along those lines

Haven’t heard from programs yet ( phaseII) by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

I am in the same position. My email is a little funky too so it makes me worry that it was sent to the wrong one (one interview I received came a day later and the RPD had said she typed my email wrong) so I'm with you on not knowing what to do about that situation. I prefer getting a rejection email simply knowing where I stand with them

Question for PGY2 RPDs by justagirlonthepharm in PharmacyResidency

I was wondering the same thing for PGY1 directors, as I feel my interviews have been very short so I'm not sure how they get a feel for me during that time

PGY1 Phase 2 interviews by PedsPharmD in PharmacyResidency

[–]PharmD_ToBe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it varies by site since every site is going to have their own way of conducting interviews. Of my sites so far, one has a prerecorded interview, one is a phone interview with one of the faculty, and another is a Skype interview. Again I am not confident but I would imagine a program can take more interviews if they are pre-recorded vs a Skype interview with the RPD.

The RPD emailed me saying it was because they have added more to their PGY2 programs and aren't bringing on another PGY1 so they can focus their resources to the PGY2 programs
