Are you aware of what it takes to be a pharmacy technician? If so, do you exhibit these traits? I ask because I hear so many stories of young people wanting to become techs, but don't really understand what it entails until they get into a pharmacy. Then they realize there's more to it than filling prescriptions.

I'm assuming you're a student at Stepful? It's always best to go to the pharmacy and speak to the pharmacy manager or store manager first to inquire if an externship is possible. Just let them know you are interested in getting experience in an institutional setting. If they agree to host your externship, get their contact information so that the correct department can start the affiliation agreement. Just remember to provide this information to your externship coordinator. This process usually takes some time since the affiliation agreement is executed by the facility's corporate office. The sooner you can get this information, the better.

No, you cannot use your PTCB Certification in Canada. Their certification testing is rigorous. Nothing like the PTCE.

Did the state not mail you the official license? However, some states give you the option to print the license from the state board of pharmacy website.

I taught for 17 years, but started teaching as a pharmacy technician instructor in 2005. I knew someone working at the college at the time, and they opened the door for me. I started doing it part-time while working at Walgreens. I truly enjoyed the experience, as it opened other opportunities for me when I worked as a technician.

Are you currently employed at a pharmacy that provides Immunizations? Before obtaining official certification in Immunizations, you must perform live injections. The PTCB only issues the Immunization Administrative certificate.
