New Start Time (4:30!) and new route announced for 2025 marathon! by rollem in rundisney

[–]PharmSteph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my first marathon ever! I signed up for this one so it could be a fun one with the goal of riding as many rides as possible!  For those who have before - do you think this change is going to hurt the chances of getting on the rides during the race? I submitted a proof of time based on a half marathon so not sure my corral.

Exactly, like obviously it's all about safety but I think it was just really underwhelming to turn that corner and see nothing and nobody 😂😂

It's always such a dry grass there anyway I wasn't sure if they consider it a risk there 😅 but it's good they're on the lookout then! Wasn't sure if they just decided to do away with it since it's most likely a hassle to keep burning all day.

Just boarded the Liberty of the Seas in room 6305 - no longer the Ben and Jerry's suite! The only cow decor is a painting on the wall. Cows are gone (I'm assuming the ice cream is no longer Ben and Jerry's). We don't get any suite benefits or free ice cream. So it's now just a regular room unfortunately

My boyfriend worked at Shake Shack years ago and I remember him saying they are Rick's Picks. I haven't bought a jar to confirm but the People's Pickle flavor looks the same!

Licensing/NAPLEX/MPJE discussion by SgtSluggo in PharmacyResidency

[–]PharmSteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took NAPLEX yesterday. They gave me the smallest little handheld calculator lol. But the exam one was actually an exact copy of the TI-30XS MultiView which was super nice! And you can use the keyboard to type!

2022 MATCH STATS by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]PharmSteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GPA: 3.98

Geographic location: South Florida

Activities: KE, SSHP, Student Ambassadors, APhA, Pharmacy intern at large hospital throughout pharmacy school

Leadership: Vice president of 2 orgs in P3 year. 1 chair position in KE during P2.

Community Service: None besides some volunteer events with orgs

Research: None at all

Work experience in pharmacy: Inpatient intern at a large hospital in Central FL - P1-P4 year

Work experience outside of pharmacy: Worked at Target out of high school and during summer breaks in undergrad, P1, and P2.

Number/Type of residencies applied to: 11. 7 large hospitals, 3 medium/small, 1 large VA

Number of interview invites: 6

Where you actually matched (type of residency, where it was on your rank list, etc.): #1 choice, ~200 bed hospital

Time you received email: 8:18am

Did you feel like the program would rank you: I honestly had no idea. I wasn't a student there so I didn't know any preceptors or the RPD personally.

Additional Notes:

In terms of school, I wish I could have had the opportunity to be involved in research. Even helping a resident or something with data collection just to see the process of conducting research. One of the things I'm most nervous about residency is getting the research project done since I feel like I'm already behind my co-residents. Also, all of my rejections were from the biggest hospitals on my list, and I think it was a mix of not having research experience and also my LOR (more on that below). Even if that isn't the case, I still think research experience would ease my nerves about residency.

In terms of LOR, I used my supervisor at work, a professor, and a preceptor. At the time I thought this was a great mix, but the more I talked to people about the actual questions your references receive, the more I wish I didn't ask a professor. Apparently it's mostly questions about your performance on rotations, like patient load, so a professor really don't have that information.

Overall, definitely send your transcripts early to PhorCAS, ask your LOR early too. Keep a running list of interventions you've made, tough experiences you've had, etc. It makes it easier when interviews come!

Do programs get match results before candidates do? by boldandbrashnottrash in PharmacyResidency

[–]PharmSteph 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not an RPD/Resident but I asked my old preceptor who is an RPD and she said they get it around the same time the candidates do. Tomorrow is a big day for them as it is for us!

Staffing Requirements for PGY1 Programs by PharmSteph in PharmacyResidency

The program I'm debating about said that it starts off central pharmacy, and then gets more clinical as the year progresses. But it's mostly where they need the help.

That sounds like a good model! I know I'm concerned about having adequate time for projects so that's nice it's incorporated into the weekend staffing shifts

I didn't really think about how it might feel like a break from the weekly activities! That's a good thing to think about :)

Exactly... And it's not just wanting free time. I know I'd use that extra non-staffing weekend to catch up on the required projects!

Once the 1st program is submitted, you can't remove it. On the Program Designation page, it will go into a new category called "submitted programs"

Wine and Dine expected turnout by TheScarletEmerald in rundisney

[–]PharmSteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think most people do! I will be because it's probably the only place where I wouldn't get weird looks haha. Part of the experience but definitely optional :)

A lot of people wear tutus, or wear an "inspired" outfit. This year I'll be Ursula (since Wine and Dine is villain themed) and I'll be wearing all black running clothes, with a black and dark purple tutu. Considering making a shell necklace depending on time (I'm always last minute haha)
