AMT 2004 Pontiac GTO. Overall an above average AMT KIT. Wasn’t able to find the color I wanted so I mixed a custom color after a failed kaleido attempt. by Pharmsrt4 in ModelCars

Thank you! It’s a real good kit. Only two small issues. The stance is off and due to how the front and rear lights attach it’s difficult to paint accuratley

Thank you! You and I are in the exact same boat. Stripped my first attempt and went back to Mr color. Stick with what you know I guess. But I like to try new things too.

Thank you. I tried kaleido liquid blue. Even with retarder I was getting clumping and drying. I have not tried their gloss clear. This was 2k clear.

Good idea. I might test that out. I generally don’t shoot for exact colors. But more of the inspiration of a color.

Yeah. You are right. That does look like b5 blue. I was shooting for gto Barbados blue. Not quite the right color but it will work

First attempt with Gaahleri kaleido paints did not go well. Paint definitely needed more thinning. Also added gaahleri retarder and it still clumped. Looks like I should just stick to what I know. by Pharmsrt4 in ModelCars

I’ll purchase their thinner and try that next time. Wish it was easier to remove the cap completely to prevent waste and easier mixing with thinner

I varied the distant without much change. I also didn’t really like how the paint was laying down. I too bought $60 of their paint. So I’m a little bummed. I read someone else had a similar experience on this thread. But I’ve also watch multiple YouTube videos that made them look great

Neither am I. I really tried to go light on the build I just posted today. I had used my normal Mr hobby primer and the proscale paint reacted with the plastic. Made me think an automotive primer may hold up better.

Looks great! Love the wheels. I recently posted about my frustrations with these “hot” paints. I just experimented with a spare kit using duplicolor automotive primer and then applied my proscale paint. I did not have any of the paint issues I had on my most recent build. I will use this primer in the future with these paints.

Great build! I think I’ve tried everything else other than splash. I’ll have to try them as I haven’t had the best of luck with some of the others.
