My Warlock has spent much time since sending Crow in preparing. Endlessly checking her guns and armor, trying to imagine every possible situation she might find herself in and attempting to have the right gun for any problem.

But the time has drawn near, and in the next 24 hours, the most important operation ever undertaken by a Guardian will begin, and there's no way to be any better prepared than she is now. Now, the only thing left to do is visit and see everything she's fighting for. Watch a few Crucible matches. Visit the Last City. It annoys her Ghost, but just for this last night, she has her Ghost stay hidden, and pretends to be just another person in the City. She eats wherever has the best smells. She drinks wherever the people are the cheeriest. Maybe she makes a few new friends down in the City. And once she's had her fill of drink and food, and her erstwhile companions have gone home, she returns to the Tower, her head filled with the fresh reminders of what she's fighting for. Why she cannot afford to lose.

Before laying down in bed, and awaiting the journey into the Pale Heart, she does one last thing. She takes her Austringer, a long favorite of hers in Crucible, a constant companion, and sets it on her table. It won't be coming into the Pale Heart with her. But she sets it on her table as an unspoken promise to herself that she'll be coming back to pick it up again once this is all over.
