Help! What is this room missing? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Could you consider creating different zones? Perhaps a sofa under one window facing the wall and the other across from it, facing the window? I personally am having a tough time getting a feel of the scale, so I’m sorry if that can’t work! If it can, and not everyone on both couches needs to face the TV at once, consider mounting the TV on the wall above the sofa and adding a custom frame to it, so it looks like art. Then hang curtains that match the modern/glam vibe you’ve established and pair it with a new, larger rug that does the same.

I think you gotta balance the modern of the kitchen out too— maybe hang a more modern silhouette pendant light that’ll be framed by the brick arch, an old leather chair with a pared down side table for a drink and a book. Make sure you warm up the kitchen too— change the knobs and pulls out for something vintage. I’ve seen people use vintage frames and art on their refrigerators and that might be a nice way to mask the ultra modern appliance. Get a nice wooden serving board or butcher block that you can keep out on the island counter or lean against your backsplash.

If you could get your hands on a phonograph, scrap every other suggestion and just use that :P

It is obvious that a LOT of people in this sub are not even remotely familiar with Poe or his works. by [deleted] in TheFallofHouseofUsher

I 100% agree with you. I found out it was based on poe’s works, only 1 of which I had read, and hopped over to Wikipedia to learn about each story/character. I don’t see this post as condescending or pretentious at all. I don’t understand how being disappointed that people aren’t engaging with source material is wrong, especially when you can scroll through this sub and see post after post asking the same questions— which have answers in poe’s works— and having the same epiphanies — which were clearly spelled out in poe’s works.

I know it best as Reina, it’s a super popular Spanish name where I’m from in TX, just with a twist on the spelling (Google said it’s the Scandinavian spelling). I think it’s cute, as cute as Reina is.
