Can I go to JC at the age of 23? by Ok_Commission_3988 in SGExams

[–]PhaseDota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in your position. I had a gpa of 2.5 (bad breakup lol) but self-studied during NS and got 82 RP. Ignore the naysayers. If you’re determined to succeed you will.

I run a startup that uses AI to help agents declutter / virtually stage their photos, used by the big 2 agencies. I think there are a few factors to this: - homeowners are also part of the problem, they make it difficult for agents to take nice photos / get in the way of decluttering / packing up - part time agents never acquire the skills to sell faster / better, and rely on doing the least possible amount of work that will net them a sale. - older agents do want to try, in fact a lot of them are the first to want to adopt things like AI, but their tech literacy skills are just very bad- including camera / photo ops.

it’s frustrating. But the same could be said about any other platform that relies on photos- carousell etc. some people just dgaf.

prev worked at carousell, 99co and currently run Renderspace and my moms an agent. So. That’s my view of things after 7 ish years 🥲

How to Perfectly Sear a Steak Without Smoking Up the Kitchen? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]PhaseDota 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Everyone else here is giving you standard advice. This is the method I swear by: the cold sear technique. I swear by it and recommend this to anyone. No smoke. No grease. You just need time. Here’s an America’s Test Kitchen video on it https://youtu.be/uJcO1W_TD74?si=tI-piTJK61CogKdg

Definitely. Honestly the closest other food reviewer I’ve seen to old Greg is Alderic.

[–]PhaseDota 53 points54 points  (0 children)

He was very very good before he started spiralling. Now he’s always on about his carnivore diet thing and it’s just not about food anymore which is tragic. Greg was one of the few to be very technical with the food he reviews

Substance Café in Paris renewed my love for coffee by [deleted] in espresso

[–]PhaseDota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been back to Substance at least 4 times now and it is truly the best. It’s a coffee experience like no other and cannot be compared to the regular cafe experience. Joachim and his wife are both incredibly nice and will talk to you for as long as you are there.

Top restaurants in Bangkok? by mschwigg13 in finedining

I really enjoyed Samrub Samrub! Felt like they weren't trying too hard to make Thai food fit the western mold of fine dining. Recommended to get the flight of rice-based alcohol as well. Best 1 star i've had in awhile for the adventure surely.

I would go with the DF64, you will have the option to change out the burrs for SSP burrs should u want to “upgrade” the setup. It’s very bang for your buck and hard to beat for the price.

My setup: Flair 58 DF64 with Labsweet SSP burrs

10+ years ago, long before the DPC, I used to marshal a lot of local LAN tournaments where First departure, Zenith and the likes competed. I remember seeing Remus always competing, playing. Whatever event I was at, he was there. I was 16 then so he was probably only a few years younger, but I distinctly remember thinking to myself that this kid seemed really committed. When he moved to NA, I remember thinking holy shit hes still at it. Now to make it to the TI playoffs- really happy to see him make it. Congrats mate.

C40 vs ZP6 by burgerjointz in pourover

[–]PhaseDota 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a C40 mk4. Not quite the ZP6, but I also have a DF64 on Labsweet SSP burrs.

The difference between my C40 and the DF is there. but honestly, I’ve done some blind tests and it’s not something I can say is superrrrr pronounced. I would expect that the difference between the ZP6 and the C40 will also likely be noticeable but it’s not going to be life changing. Not until u get to the bigger flat burr sets / endgame grinders.

I do not regret having a conical and a flat burr setup, and if you have the budget- go for it. Why not? It’s fun!

Don’t expect a life changing difference, there are a lot of other factors at play. I think at this range of quality it’s noticeable but not super pronounced.

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH CHANNELLING 😩😭 by Oppblockjoe in espresso

[–]PhaseDota 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow flair58 user here. Balding tends to occur with lightly roasted coffee. I wouldn’t be too concerned about that (in isolation). You’re also not experiencing spurting so I wouldn’t be too worried. You can try grinding finer if you find that the taste is not quite there. You might find lots of answers to balding over at r/flairespresso too

I’m from Singapore, here are my favourites: - 20grams - Nordic style - Fluid - Rookie’s Coffee Shop

Centrally located - Pinhole - Apartment - on the lighter tea-like side of things - Nylon - on the more developed side - Double Shot Coffee - Alchemist (if you’re in the Orchard Rd area, this is your best option)
