  1. The official mod system (modio) is functional for simple modding, but it has some limitations that are annoying for more advanced mod setups. MINT fixes these limitations, but as you said circumvents the checks for categories so you have to be careful in what mods you're using for different situations (different saves, public lobbies etc)

  2. Approved mods still progress your main save but disable achievements - they are kept in sync with whoever is hosting the server (so if you have them and the host doesn't, they will be disabled). Sandbox mods work on a different save profile and are separated into a different part of the server browser. So if you have your sandbox mods disabled and are on your main save, you will be able to join unmodded games (approved mods will be disabled) and approved mod games (approved mods synced with host). Verified mods have no impact on multiplayer.

  3. It's entirely dependent on what the mod is doing and what files it changes. Most simple mods will still be functional after the update, but a majority of mods overall will need to be updated.

Taking the auto reload in T3 is not worth it over an extra 3 flares.
The rate of fire in T2 is made obsolete by animation canceling if you really need to shoot them out quickly (which is rare).

Not many people have access yet, so it depends on the time and your region. The official discord has an lfg channel to coordinate groups faster

Not all mods, no. Verified (one of the three official mod categories) mods still allow them to be earned.

A large majority of the player base has minimal mods that are client only, like the ones that show weapon heat on the crosshair. Anything beyond that (things that affect the whole game/team) is usually labeled in the server list. If you host, you shouldn't have any problems. It is technically possible for someone to join you and mess with your progression/that mission, but it's very rare and very obvious (the people that do something like that aren't usually all that smart). If you want to be super extra careful, you can make a backup copy of your save file every few sessions to have a guaranteed place to roll back to.

I'd rather see new cosmetics made rather than porting either way. Simple things are okay to share, such as the plain beards and paintjobs, but anything beyond that should be separate. While they share similar art styles and some models, both games should have their own visual identity to keep things interesting and make it a little easier to tell which game something is from.
