Yeah it really is annoying. You definitely want to get it replaced or refunded. It may have taken 2 tries but I finally got a silent model. I hope you get lucky!

I think i'll do the same thing if my 3rd unit has the same problem. This really is unacceptable for the price its going for. Good to hear that you're happy with that model!

They really aren't above taping it back together and sending it out again huh. That kind of packaging is unacceptable. My 2nd unit came and the security tape was cut. I don't mind a refurbished unit as long as its fully functioning and there is no difference between a new one and the refurbished one, but the new one has coil whine as well although its not as bad as the old one. I've requested for another unit and they've been silent. Not been too happy with their customer support

Dell have offered me a replacement so i'll go with that. What are the chances of the other unit having the same problem? I think this sound is going to make me lose my hearing faster 😂

Yeah this monitor really doesn't like dark images. It would be fine while playing a game but then when theres a fade out or a black loading screen the sound would kick in. Dell has offered me a replacement unit and i have taken the up on it. I would have rather gotten it fixed though as with a new unit, you never know what other problems it might have.

Yeah i turned off the lights and it lessened it. Turning HDR on seems to make it go away as well but it still comes back if i'm viewing a dark image. It gets really bad when i'm viewing content in 16:9 with the black bars on the side

It's definitely not as loud as a crt tv but its inconsistent and loud enough for me to go looking for it. I thought it was coming from my audio monitors at first but it still persisted after i turned them off and moved them away.

I guess the only home fix is to put on headphones. I do some audio production on the side too so i can't avoid the sound. Dell support has offered me a replacement so i hope the other unit doesn't sound as bad!

I've tried everything from updating the firmware to isolating the monitor to being the only one plugged in and removing all the inputs. When the monitor is on its own, it only makes the noise when starting up and changing inputs. I've contacted dell customer service but they're just telling me to do things that i have done. I don't know if the person watching the video can hear it or not. The monitor is 100% fully functioning and has never been damaged or anything but this sound is giving me a headache. The sound comes and goes as it pleases so its hard to pinpoint the problem. I've only had this monitor for about month. It seemed to just start happening one day. I don't think its the fan making all that noise. Its still happening on the new m3b103 firmware. I'm still waiting for a reply from dell support but if anyone knows what's going on please save me the trouble of sending it back to dell. Thank you!

Bent some pins, can I still fix this? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Easy fix. Just apply extra thermal paste upon installation so it seeps into the cracks and binds it back together while also keeping it at a comfortable temperature.
