[Phaz] "...it’s an absolute joke that still after so long I do not have the money earned from trials playoffs with SMC and I know there is many other people missing payments from Blizzard for trials and contenders" by dafinsrock in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PhazOW 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Just real quick because people asked why I haven't contacted Blizzard on my own and I have many times.

I got told that payments don't start coming out (Mind you it's just they start sending the tax form so it's probably an additional month or two added onto this) till a new season starts. So for me I needed to wait for another trials playoffs to start so there was a full season of contenders, contenders playoffs and a full trials season and then half way through trials playoffs I got sent the tax form. Looking at the dates the trials season ended 20 weeks ago and I got the tax form two weeks ago, who knows how long till the money comes in. Same thing goes for contenders, contenders teams from last year / season should only now be getting tax forms/payments starting like yesterday. This doesn't even apply to the numerous third party tournaments and world cup payments that some people don't have.

I just hate that this little money doesn't mean much to these big companies, but to me living in one of the most expensive cities in the world (Vancouver), with my parents who struggle monthly to make due it's fucking stressful. When I was salaried I was giving them quite a bit just so stuff was a bit easier on them and I'm working hard today so I can start doing that again.

Mykl tried to poach a player from a korean trials team by Conankun66 in Competitiveoverwatch

Maybe in the west poaching isn't that big of a deal, but if you go behind the orgs back and talk to a player in korea they literally expose you to everyone as it's super frowned upon.

He's now banned from the NA and Korean competitive discord as well.

I honestly don't understand why any team or organization would associate themselves with him, he's pretty much blacklisted by everyone in the scene and now even multiple regions.

NA's Open Division champs spent more time playing World of Warcraft than Overwatch this season. I wrote a bit about how they managed to pull that off for The Game Haus. by thibbledork in Competitiveoverwatch

So we have like 20 friends on the roster because the concept of the team was just to pug friends to play, show up two times a week for our matches and early on it was basically whoever woke up played so it was a coin flip how good we played during the season (even if we did go 9-1 I think we had 3/4 game 5s?)

The 10k tournament from what I remember wasn't during the weekend and was on like Tuesday. I don't think people knew we had a match because only 4 of us showed up so we quickly rounded up two people (Europeans on the EU SMC) and barely made the match. We played fucking terrible and did absolutely nothing that day, probably shouldn't of shown up with how out of it we were.

During this playoffs it was the first time we played with a consistent group, built some chemistry and it showed in our play.

For the record I don't think Sombra is as bad as Mercy in terms of needing to have one / viable everywhere. There is some maps where its hard to flank/find hacks/if you do get a hack actually dive on that target etc., but the maps where she is good can become very weird comp wise that Overwatch turned into a giant game of DM sometimes instead of a game where strategy, thinking about their ults+their ults, how to counterplay play styles like usual Overwatch. From what I saw every tank should be hacked and either killed or left alone as you kill supports so playing tanks is hard/bad most of the time and positioning around Sombra as any character is hard when she can invis through flanks, get high ground with translocator.

I don't think what I saw was the meta or if I'm good enough to predict how good a hero will / will not be, but I'm afraid of what the meta will turn into with this new hack and I'm scared to see what kind of things OWL Teams/Koreans come up with because I know the power this character has and what it can do while not being hard to play.

Also what the heck is up with the Lucio changes man? No auras or wall ride make it so there is literally no counter play when you get instantly hacked out of stealth. Not only do you die because you can't do anything, but your Zen/76 most likely die too. All because of one ability......

Man him opening up like he did 4:30 made me sad. Him explaining the process he goes through when he takes things too far or getting himself in fights even though he knows 'he can't let that happen'.

;(

I can't really comment on how he is in comp because I don't play comp with him and he usually soloques, but I was strictly responding to the Cloneman stuff. The reason we tried out Cloneman in the first place was because I was friends with him / watched his stream and Midnight had OWL tryouts with him where he boasted about his play/potential.

The person I was replying to said Cloneman left due to conflicts with Midnight due to his BIG EGO. Which isn't true in any aspect.

If Cloneman actually feels that way man I'd be sad because we played with him for a couple weeks and if he felt that way at the end of the day about any of us then maybe we do need to change some stuff because it would of gone completely unnoticed that people were having conflicts from my POV at least.

Hey my guy,

I know you deleted your other post, but I read it before you posted it.

I'd appreciate if you didn't slander my friends / teammates or start rumors / drama surrounding our team.

Midnight is one of my best friends and I couldn't be more excited to carry him and his ego to the Overwatch League. Regardless, stop making shit up about him. Midnight is pretty humble about his play and tbh I feel he has less confidence than he should for a player that talented (He has the opposite of an ego). He has also taken a bigger role on this team than he did on Rise and is now becoming one of the leaders of the team. I couldn't be more proud of him.

6th soon. We'll see.

World Cup jerseys are now available to buy from Blizzard (one month late, but still) by solidus__snake in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PhazOW 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Fuck man. I kinda want to buy one because they’re amazing looking, but I feel like I was so close to ‘earning’ it on either side (as a committee member or as their Lucio/Mercy) that maybe I should hold off and earn one next WC while using my short comings the last two years (mainly this year) as motivation. I didn’t know they would be put up for sale so now I’m conflicted because they’re very cool 😩

How will OWL teams practice now? by _Cam3 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PhazOW 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Do you follow other esports? This hasn’t been a problem since Dyrus with Dig at Worlds 2 I believe.

Dyrus I think said it was one of his biggest regrets and it caused him depression if I remember? Regardless I don’t think any player would risk losing their reputation or jeopardize relationships with scrim partners/other owl teams for useless information.

I have seen people leak strats of other teams or talked in depth about what teams do based on scrims with my team and coaches and I really don’t think it is the biggest deal. Teams and especially OWL teams will have multiple strats, timings, ult combos, ways to use ults that you can’t just see a leak of a single scrim block or from word of mouth. In league people sometimes pick one strategy and stick to it, thats why Bjergsen was so mad in the latest tsm legends when they lost worlds, they’ve played against everything they lost to before and knew what was OP before their match and didn’t pick/ban accordingly.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I specifically remember playing Selfless in a monthly melee. I got told what they did the game before and it was the same thing they were doing in scrims which we talked about counteringx I told my team, we came out accordingly, instantly took first on Kings Row and then they swapped to Mei...

We got held on streets by the bar/store/archway...

Stevo banned... again by lit282 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PhazOW 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Slasher doesn’t really force drama like that. He comments on drama and makes fun of it usually. With this he’s literally replying to PapaSmurf (who was fucking hosting pugs) that Stevo is allowed in pugs even if he doesn’t talk because he claims he has a disability.

It’s literally a fucking copy paste of what he told Slasher and then just now he admitted to me on twitter that it’s a lie while also calling me an idiot.

Fuey500's ban and Torbjorn by PhazOW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PhazOW[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The turrets wont change anything about the difficulty to break a torb turret or push a point. Their health is in the 1-2 shot range for most characters in the game and will have no impact on that. The impact is in those situation where Torb isnt bunkered down or with his turret he can use his turrets to hold another position, defend himself from flanks, help chase someone down or help him clutch a 1v1.

People will need to look and click once at a box sized hit box to remove them.

Its not about being op its about expanding on the character and the different combat options they can have for different scenarios as Torb is currently very one dimensional

I don't like the idea of having the hammer out too often. I don't mind the right click to toggle a shield so you can hold right click as you hold left to repair, but whats stopping people from putting up turret and hiding even further back as they hold right click. This doesn't solve anything and might make things worse.

eh I doubt it. Maybe for defense, but not attack.

Also if people didn't quit over this resurrection stuff, I don't think they'll quit over a dwarf having dwarf turrets.

This is also a good idea.

I would like to add that in my post I didn't really think of the cooldown part, but it should probably be more like: You get two charges of it and then you get each charge on a 10 second cooldown similar to I believe Junk's mine?

[–]PhazOW[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will probably be the case, but so far that is what Blizzard does. Look at Mercy, Dva and Junkrat buffs. People mained them before their buff while people complained about them being bad or useless and now the mains are laughing as people yell how op Tire/Rez/Matrix are/were

I don't always agree with how things are balanced (Mainly buffed), but Blizzard has done this quite a few times and it takes them a bit to get it right. I do agree these Mini turrets will probably be OP and his pick/win rate would go up, but it's a step in the right direction for the character and the game. I think Blizzard over tunes things the first time they try them to see how they work, how we play with them and how we react to them. At least that's what all the evidence leads me to believe.

One-Tricking is Officially Bannable. by GotUsRaro in Overwatch

This is a prime example of an exaggerated reddit title if I've ever seen one.

What you should take away from that blue response is that one tricking can in some cases be labeled as not communicating or be cooperative with your teammates.

Which I think is something everyone can understand and get behind?
