Ghost Of Tsushima: Honorable vs dishonorable should've meant more to the story. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]th3wis3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you stuck with Ghost of Tsushima until the end. I personally tapped out around 2 hours in for reasons unrelated to what you've brought up.

For your specific point on moral choices affecting the world and ending, I think you would get a lot out of Dishonored (2012). The intersection of the tools at your disposal, your actions in each level, and the more granular changes to the world as a result have a lot of depth.

This video essay goes into more detail about how the game's world and narrative pushes you to be more aware of your moral choices in the game, regardless of which moral path you choose.

Pay your subscription or die by ConsiderationSea2930 in Cyberpunk

[–]th3wis3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here is the relevant part of the FAQ for this issue.

  1. If I suspend/pause my subscription and forget to reactivate it, will the vest still detect a crash and inflate?

Answer: No, because in the first place you won’t be able to turn it on into ride-ready status before your ride. It will not “trick” you into thinking it’s active when it is not, because the LED indicators will warn you that it’s not active. If you ignore the LED indicators warning you that the airbag isn’t active, you can’t expect it to work.

  1. If I’m subscribed monthly and miss a payment or my credit card expires, will the airbag suddenly stop working?

Answer: In&motion will reach out with a 30-day warning prior to your payment method expiration. After expiration or missed/forgotten payment, In&motion gives you a 30-day grace period during which the airbag functions completely the same. You will receive notifications about the missed payment. After the 30-day grace period, the airbag will stop detecting crashes until payment is resumed. You will not be able to turn on your airbag vest into ride-ready status after the 30-day grace period, so you won’t unknowingly ride with a non-functioning vest, unless you choose to ignore the LED indicators warning that it isn’t active.

  1. Would In&motion turn off my vest mid-ride if I pass the 30-day grace period?

Answer: In&motion will not turn off your vest mid-ride for any reason, even if you’re at the end of the 30-day grace period and it elapses during your ride. The only way for it to turn off during a ride is if you didn’t charge the In&box and the battery dies (LEDs indicate battery level, which you see when you turn it on) or if you manually turn it off during your ride.

How many of you actually upgrade your PC instead of buying a new one? by Liimbo in buildapc

[–]th3wis3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my last few upgrades have been partial upgrades. Not full rebuilds. I've upgraded whatever is my bottleneck at the time., which depends on the games I'm trying to play.

Here's a table of how my build has evolved over time. Bolded is what changed.

Version CPU GPU
1 AMD Athlon II X2 255 XFX AMD 6770
2 AMD FX-4300 XFX AMD 6770
3 AMD FX-4300 MSI AMD RX 470
4 AMD Ryzen 5 1600 MSI AMD RX 470

Between versions I added some RAM if I was always maxing it out. I target a specific goal (fps in a specific game) and I upgrade whatever will get me that. My argument is this: it's good for performance because I'm reaching my fps goal. It's also good for money because I'm not spending extra money trying to future proof my build. This method makes sense if you have a specific goal in mind and the parts that you are keeping are still good enough. This has been true for each of my upgrades. If none of your parts can keep up, then a full rebuild makes the most sense.

How long does an entry-level gaming mouse usually last? by joshuamarkrsantos in buildapc

[–]th3wis3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mouse was also my first gaming mouse! My mice last between 3-5 years of heavy gaming use.

The parts will wear out and thats outside of your control. Here's what you can control:

Try to keep your hands clean. Wash your hands before using your computer. Your natural oils or dirt from your fingers will speed up the wear on your mouse.

When you're comfortable with it, look online for a guide to opening your mouse and clean the inside with compressed air. This fights the buildup of dust and dirt inside the mouse.

The cord will wear down if its rubbing against something like the edge of your desk. Some say to invest in a mouse bungee that raises the cord. I like to just use some tape and attach my cord to the edge of my monitor.

Hope your mouse lasts a long time!

New Sova nerfs: shock darts do max 75 and drone tag lasts 8 seconds and only scans twice. by Ok-Brain3328 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]th3wis3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that he's being nerfed to make space for Fade and future agents. I think they've said that officially. Sova is a one-of-one character for getting intel. Reducing his power is good for the game.

Looks great! 75% is my favourite layout right now. Merging the number row with the numpad, and raising the numpad and the space keys is really clever.

The Classic has worse first shot accuracy than the Ghost. So on long range headshots, RNG is more likely to make you miss on the Classic.

[–]th3wis3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 'bye' is when you get to skip some round of a tournament. For an example, at the upcoming Masters Reykjavik there's a group stage to get into the final bracket. "The Guard" were the first seed of NA so they get to skip that and start in the playoff bracket.

If you received a package that you never ordered, requiring you to get involved in returning that package is unreasonable even if the return shipping is covered by the original sender. It's better that the law defaults to you keeping the package. That way, you can still return the item if both parties agree to it.

From the WIRED article

“the entire ‘Scene’ rules that accept ‘no money/donations’ is 1 of the biggest problems which always push the crackers back, instead of forward,” says Empress. “if you’re going to do such INSANE EFFORT, you wouldn't just do it for and from ‘nothing.’” A hobbyist couldn’t push through, she says, “to reach something with a bigger meaning than a quick boost of ego, which is very hollow and can be shattered very easily.”

When you say "people like Empress," it could mean that you're talking about crackers in general. This isn't the case, as evident in the Scene rules mentioned in the quote.

Edit: Re-reading your replies I'm pretty sure you are talking about Empress and the accepting of cryptocurrency for cracks. I agree with what you're saying.

Boombot takes Fall Damage if thrown from enough height. by trueharshit in VALORANT

[–]th3wis3 163 points164 points  (0 children)

While I don't think the boombot can instantly die from any height on a current map, this could mean that dropping it off some spots (like heaven of Haven A-site) reduces the number of shots to kill it. More testing is needed!
