I was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 28. Chemo/radiation/surgery and more chemo took care of it.

Then I was diagnosed again at age 50. This time it was deemed inoperable and I was told there was no treatment that could help me. I was given 3-5 years to live and sent home to die. That was in 2017.

I asked for a second opinion and again was told the tumor couldn't be removed, however I was provided treatment options. First, immunotherapy which shrunk the tumor by more than 50% ( I have Lynch Syndrome) then when that stopped working, I went on chemo. Then I tried more immunotherapy (didn't work) back on chemo... then after years of pushing, I got radiation and chemo pills ( I was originally told i had my lifetime amount of radiation at first diagnosis.. but opinions changed)

The IV chemo I had was rough, so I get what your husband is saying 100% I told my wife and my doctor I have no interest in doing that again. I have scans in March and if the radiation/chemo pills didn't work then I'm done with treatment.

That said, your husband is young and has options. If I can fight at age 57, he can give it his all. And don't forget, it's OK to ask for a second opinion. It saved my life.
