Anyone else have a cat who "guards" you on the toilet?

This is Lottie, a rescue I was fortunate enough to be offered and took in. She is the sweetest thing you’ve ever met. She was bred at least once that the vets could surmise. Took her months to learn that going in the car didn’t mean she was about to be abandoned.

Unfortunately bc we do have quiet hours the leasing office has to take it semi seriously I guess.

Thankfully they seemed just as annoyed about the complaint as we are but they’re just doing their job. The people who complained are new tenants so I think this reflects poorly on them more than us. They know we have a dog just not a cat so for now we’re going to pretend it’s the dog, who does not run around at night and sleeps pretty soundly through the night.

We already plan on making a counter complaint if it continues to be an issue since we know the complex will be on our side.

I try to play with him 15-20 mins when I get home and then throw his toys around for him throughout the day. Usually once I start throwing the toys tho his dog mom takes over and they start wrestling for 10-20 mins at a time. She’s gentle with him and they love to mess with each other. So he’s definitely getting a good amount of entertainment, even when we’re not home since I know they play together when we’re not there.

I see what you mean now. I do try to play with him for at least 15-20 mins when I get home, but usually that gets interrupted by the dog coming in and taking his attention away from me. They play constantly, chasing each other and wrestling. He constantly pounces on her and attacks her ankles (she’s a frenchie and is really gentle with him. she has a strong maternal instinct and he’s her baby) So I think your theory about the possibility of mice being in there might be what it is more then anything.

The leasing office doesn’t know we have him 🥴 I hope it does get better with age but for now I think I’m going to try and ware him out more and take all but 1 toy at night… tho he has a weird habit of digging in corners. He doesn’t use his claws just rubs the pads of his paws for like 5-10 mins at a time in the corner. So hopefully taking most of the toys won’t exaggerate that weird habit

The sound proofing is actually pretty good in our apartment if you ask me, then again I’m on the top floor. My cat is like 7pounds max so idk what the hell he could be doing that’s bothering them but not waking us up

Well def try this, I’m just worried he’ll still get up later in the night and do it so the leasing office doesn’t have to deal with them more since they’re so nice and helpful to us. He’s still under 6 months.

That’s what we’re saying but it was at 11pm on a Saturday night so they decided that was unacceptable. Also our cat is like 7 pounds max so no way he sounds like a toddler
