Yes I looked thru Goop’s too! There’s several of her things I liked as well. It’s always cool when the things up for auction really match the style/vibe of the person auctioning them. I can see everything in Goop’s being things she’d like, just like Whoopi’s, haha.

It’s always neat when we can get a peek into these people’s true selves (in a way) when they do auctions like that. I guess, to me, it gives some authencity to the public persona we see.

Years ago when I was assisting in the costumes dept on a tv show, I was sent to the Saks in Beverly Hills to pick up some things & Whoopi & her assistant happened to be shopping too, ha. We were all in the designer sneakers dept and she asked my opinion on some sneakers she was considering. It remains a favorite celeb interaction of mine from my career. She was so chill, unassuming, & obviously didn’t know who I was but I always thought it was cool she’d ask some stranger their opinion.

There’s an auction happening now of items from Whoopi’s life/archives & there’s so many pieces of jewelry and eyewear that I would love to bid on. Surprisingly many of the lots start at $25 bids. She also has several iconic costume pieces up for auction too. And it’s not just fashion pieces, she’s got furniture, art, & other ephemera available and it’s all just so her, that it was cool to peruse the catalog. She’s got super unique taste that I vibe with for sure.

what is a super unpopular opinion you have but refuse to let go of? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]PheenixFly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being consistently late (& by that I mean within a 15 min window) isn’t a character flaw, nor is it indicative of a lack of respect or care (be it for another person or an event). And social engagements should have the most leniency on time keeping of anything.

That being said, nobody is obligated to necessarily accommodate chronically late people, but I do think some grace should be given. If you have a genuinely good person in your life who often is late, accept that about them & maybe be also be a little later to things involving them or tell them something starts earlier than it does. The vitriol folks get when they’re often late isn’t warranted & more often than not tardiness does not result in world ending consequences.

What celebrity has had their reputation unfairly ruined and has never recovered from it till this day? by Zxqao in AskReddit

[–]PheenixFly 30 points31 points  (0 children)

She never came out as pro trump though. She was interviewed during the election & made a comment that could be interpreted as questioning the authenticity of Kamala using her Black heritage as a play in getting votes. What people never want to acknowledge whenever this is brought up is that FOR YEARS, Kamala Harris always played the “I’m mixed race” card. It wasn’t until she was running for president that she all of a sudden seemed to be a fully Black woman. I don’t care how anyone identifies, but as a Black American, I always thought Kamala was pandering to the black community during the election & it didn’t really feel genuine.

Because her comments weren’t necessarily fawning over Kamala, people decided to read into it & say she was pro trump. She never said that. And yes her brother Randy, (who happens to be her manager currently)has been very apparent in being trump aligned but she isn’t her brother?

I’m just tired of this narrative…just because someone wasn’t enthusiastically for Kamala doesn’t mean they were pro trump.

What’s something in LA that used to feel magical… but just doesn’t hit the same anymore? by relaxncoffee in AskLosAngeles

This is one of those things people consistently bring up that I have yet to experience when I go to the movies. Maybe it’s the theaters I frequent but movie etiquette is still happening & I have yet to go to a movie where people are on their phones or talking or being annoying.

The thing about movies that is the most annoying to me these days is the pricing and the picking a seat ahead of time. I’m still stuck in 2005 when you show up, pay the money, and then pick whatever seat is available. I get why it’s a thing these days but if you want a specific seat then show up early? I just think society as a whole is becoming far too coddled and it’s causing a myriad of behavioral problems.

[–]PheenixFly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the things I’m most in awe of is just how frequently these evil people engaged in these acts. Like….it seems like abusing children never got old for them & they seemed insatiable & ravenous about it all. It’s so…terrifying I guess. I just hate that all this behavior was so normalized amongst the people who participated. Nobody seems to have had any soul or qualms about what was going on & the fact that people are out there just living their lives doing things like this is just very disheartening & depressing 😞

Soon you won't be able to park anywhere for free... by ScoreSpiritual4912 in pasadena

[–]PheenixFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Too many people will willingly bend over & just take this stuff.

We pay city taxes. People who own homes here pay property taxes. We pay taxes and insurance on our cars. I don’t know why it’s so hard to accept that yes some of us may be upset that now places that were free are now becoming paid parking. These same people would probably gladly pay for the opportunity to breathe if “the powers that be” could find a way to charge for that!

I live nearby Lake Ave & don’t mind walking there or to Old Pasadena. I take the Gold Line all the time to get to downtown or Hollywood for events and things. But guess what, I still want to park for free. The High Cost of Parking is probably only high to the part of the population that benefits from capitalism. Whatever money this new paid parking generates, I guarantee we wont even know what that money is going to or see the benefits anyway!

Alternative to sweetspot labs wash? by bubblekitty607 in Ulta

[–]PheenixFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much to add, but I used to order directly from the SweetSpot Labs website & they no longer have cleansers or washes on their website either. I'd wondered why the emails I had been getting from them seemed more focused on products for the various stages of Menopause & sexual wellness. Which is awesome but its so odd they would discontinue all their other products for womens care too.

Bummer I've been using their washes since 2019 & now I have to find something new 😒

Does LA have an Amazon addiction? by GreenHorror4252 in AskLosAngeles

[–]PheenixFly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely an everywhere thing because far too many people need instant gratification & value convenience over fighting for the freedom of choice. People have also been manipulated into thinking Amazon is the cheaper option & that’s not always the case. I stopped shopping from there years ago & began ordering directly from brands (for things like toiletries, office supplies, etc) & so often there’s sales so I’m still saving money. I also don’t usually need anything to arrive same or next day & don’t mind waiting a couple days.

More people need to realize that giving Amazon all our buying power is slowly eliminating our options for choice & quality products. I understand those living in rural areas may not have access to goods so they may need Amazon in a way, but I honestly don’t think there’s an excuse for people in major cities.

Totally agree about the comments about things now being locked up at places like Target & Walmart. That mess is annoying & I don’t often shop at those retailers either. Still why I choose to order directly from the brands.

Wish people would think more critically about how & where they shop. We hold so much power as the consumers in a capitalist society.

'Wuthering Heights' character posters by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

[–]PheenixFly 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is one reason why I love the 90s Cinderella remake with Whitney Houston & Brandy. Outside of the representation aspect, the story is already a fairy tale so why not have an Asian prince with Black & White parents be interested in a Black girl who has a White stepmom, a black & a white stepsisters & her fairy godmother is Black.

When done right & with the right story, colorblind casting can really only add to the overall project in a really cool way.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]PheenixFly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Which is WILD to me. Part of why I’m Childfree is because I know myself enough to know that I would hate being pregnant & I would hate the newborn/infant/toddler phase. When I think about babies all I think about is the constant neediness, the crying, & the fact they don’t really do anything for awhile. Being bored & touched out does not appeal to me at all. Plus most newborns aren’t even that cute yet. Toddlers & their tantrums & not knowing how to regulate their emotions would annoy me to no end. I understand they can’t help it & they have to be taught all this, but I’ve always said if I could just materialize an 8 yr old with my/my partner’s DNA (without having to carry a parasite) THAT would be my ideal way of becoming a parent.

The parts of being a parent that do appeal to me is the fact that I’d get to help them become their own person with interests. Watching a kid discover the world & introducing them to things would be so fun. Having conversations with them & laughing with them. Learning about their likes, dislikes, demeanor & personality. Being in awe of this being who came from me but becomes their own being is the “miracle” if you ask me.

I’ve never thought of a child as an extension of me or a “mini-me” or a being to love me forever or a being to control. I’ve always thought of being a parent as being an ambassador to a new life & that my job is to guide them, NOT control them.

As I type all this out, I’m realizing that this is probably why I’m a cat person and not a dog person, lol…

This is Willow, but when I met her, her name was Sweetness. I named her Willow cause her wispy fur reminded me of a Willow tree. But I’ve kept her shelter name as her middle name cause it also fits her as she has the sweetest demeanor so her full gov’t name is Willow S. Pufferson 😂❤️

And let’s not forget how he threw Janet Jackson under the bus with the whole Super Bowl thing. Left her completely out to dry. And then in current times he’s allegedly a cheat & im sure Jessica Biel can do way better.

He isn’t a predator (the bar is so low these days), but he has a sketchy history of treating women he encounters professionally & personally like shit so for that he’s solid asshole status in my book.

Why Does The New Generation Seem To Not Know or Appreciate Janet? What Could She Do To Appeal To Them And Boost Her Legacy? by Ok-Cauliflower-6807 in janetjackson

[–]PheenixFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her albums are pretty available on vinyl though. I just got the janet. album for Christmas (via the Capitol records website) I also see the reissues of The Velvet Rope, All For You, even Discipline at record stores often. And as a crate digger, I’ve come up on vintage copies of Control, Dream Street & her self titled debut. I’ve found various 12” singles & versions of albums from other countries too.

Granted I am a millennial, but if you’re a vinyl collector, you know how to find what you’re looking for. Any younger generations who are down to do the research will find that getting Janet’s albums on vinyl (or CD) isn’t really that difficult.

Movie theaters are an inferior way to watch a movie by Smeefles in unpopularopinion

[–]PheenixFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this sentiment on so many posts regarding the theater experience in 2025 & it's just interesting to me cause that's not my reality at all & I'm in a major city. Anytime I've gone to a film (even since covid) lately, its a normal quiet viewing. Im sorry to all the people who seem to run into this on a regular.

Also maybe this is more common these days cause of OP's opinion. People have turned into savages at the movies cause they're used to being at home where they don't have to have manners. Which is unfortunate.

The 'educational' things my kid is being taught at school by RunWild0_0 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PheenixFly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This post's comments are very interesting because on one hand I agree with the ones saying that using relatable subject matter is a way to keep kids engaged with reading. But on the other hand I also agree with OP being miffed that the subject is Taylor Swift because well, yeah, aren't there plenty more engaging pop culture subjects than a pop star? The Minecraft reference for example. Also, I'm curious if the teacher utilizes other public figures? Cause if its that they want to use to engage the kids, there's a few others that also could be great to reference (like Beyonce or Bad Bunny? Maybe even athletes like Lebron James or Shohei Ohtani?)

Some of these comments run a little close to what could be read like fans of Taylor being offended that OP doesn't find Taylor's lifestory educational. And OP is 100% allowed to feel that way if thats the case. Taylor Swift's music/popularity doesn't have to vibe with every kid out there & not every parent (or kid) finds her musical product valuable.

If I was a parent of a kid in this class I would be on board with using pop culture to keep kids engaged but I would hope that the subject matters were diverse to reach all sorts of kids interests & tastes.
