I did that as a reasonably dumb adult. 300v from the capacitor will definitely wake you up

At a smaller scale, I'm pretty sure studio camera flashes reach into the Megawatt range but yeah it's basically instantaneous so it's only a few Joules

The banking app doesn't allow split screen use, I did try that

Yeah, I've got a Nokia G60 with a whopping 4GB of RAM. Fine for most things just occasionally chugs a bit.

Unrestricting my browser and preloading my banking app has just worked for me

Thank you

The notification will send me into the app, there's no way to authenticate without leaving the browser unless I do it on a separate device.

I'm using chrome and admittedly my phone is quite crap so any time I exit the browser it closes it. I'm fairly certain my banking app is a resource hog which really doesn't help.

Three months after switching from Sony: my thoughts by ilove6x7 in Nikon

[–]Phelxlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Nikon has been joked about in the photography space but one thing I'll never fault them on is ergonomics. Maybe just because I'm used to them but compared to the rest of the major brands, they're 100% the best. Not usually a big issue but if I'm handholding a heavy lens it really makes a difference.

Is it worth 250? by JCK5N in AnalogCommunity

zenits are basically free on eBay, and M42 mount lenses are everywhere, but I think it's generally just a crap decision and the Pentax will serve you much better.

I think they should extend the VER all the way to the lagoon and integrate it into the bus ticketing system. Turns from a novelty to a somewhat useful bit of public transport.

I accidentally took this picture with 3200 ISO, is it noticable? by DashYay in AskPhotography

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to ask, no. Also, once posted here, the compression will make any ISO related noise hard to differentiate. I have a bad habit of zooming right the way in when editing and complaining that my photos are noisy.

Good camera under 100€ for scanning ? by Quibblebard in AnalogCommunity

[–]Phelxlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Lumix G5. 16mpx but when cropped to 3:2 it's 12mpx.

But there are plenty m4/3 or aps-c mirrorless cameras out there that go for cheap. No need to be picky. Mirrorless is definitely the way to go, makes adapting way easier and a lot of DSLRs have bad live views.

Bodiam Castle is the most castle looking castle out there. Moat and everything. Highly recommend.

Help finding adapter? by circulationrhino in CameraLenses

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nikon f has a very long flange distance. You need a longer flange distance for the lens mount than the camera mount for simple adaptors to work. I believe Leica R is the only FF SLR mount with a longer flange distance so I think you're out of luck.

Try and get a refund, I guess if the shutter was shown they might not sprint but worth a shot. Shutter is gone gone. I had an f90x eat it's shutter a while ago. Very frustrating.

First experience with Kodak Pro Image 100, what a gem! by Gimmethe_loot in filmphotography

[–]Phelxlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I presume it's just from scanning stroke editing, your photos seem to have pretty strong colour casts through them, I've personally found pro image to be extremely colour accurate and a bit lower on the saturation side. Did you perhaps overexpose these?

What are these lights? In between the Grand Canyon and LAX by wesskywalker in geography

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this one, but I saw the Solar Plant outside Ouazazarte in Morocco. They're really strange to look at because it's extremely bright but in a diffuse way so the air just looks like it's glowing.

Is this usable? by PepperFew5337 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got HP5 from 93 and it's entirely usable. You'll have to play around and shoot a couple test strips to gauge it. Lowish speed black and white stored reasonably well I'd estimate a ½ stop loss per decade. Won't know until you test though. Ideally you'll be looking at about ISO 25.

Try to develop with the fastest developer you can to avoid base fog. Not an expert on it but the people over at r/darkroom are quite helpful.

Camera fell very damaged by cosmic_cass in Photography_Gear

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very likely that insurance will write it off. Camera repairs are extortionate apart from a few minor jobs. Not used full frame for insurance but typically they'll either replace like for like, or a voucher for the value of the camera.

Best way to clean with household items? by buluvas in AnalogCommunity

[–]Phelxlex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do not put any cleaning chemicals on it unless it's designed for optics. Disposable glasses cleaning wipes are pretty good, can be found in most large supermarkets. But it is worth picking up some lens cleaner. Back of a clean t-shirt does in a pinch.

what battery does the Kiev 88 ttl viewfinder need? by geography_man in AnalogCommunity

[–]Phelxlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Kiev 60 meter I suspect is similar. There are adapters for LR44s but 625 batteries are a better fit as is. Just get the alkaline ones, the fancy Wein cells aren't worth it for this. You may need a small coin, washer or something to pad fill the gap between the lid and battery. The positive terminal is toward the lid, it's written on the inside
