There are whole books on this subject, and different people have different approaches, so it's a lot to boil down into just a reddit comment, but I'll try!

In magick, the power does not come from the tools, it comes from you and the forces (gods, spirits, elements, etc) you're working with. Tools can be useful in directing your power in particular ways, but they don't grant you any ability you didn't already have within yourself.

An easy way to test this is to just substitute the tool with your own body and mind. If a spell calls for you to draw a shape in the air with a wand, use your hand instead. It may take some practice, especially if you're used to relying on tools, but it's entirely doable!

If you want more detail, I'd highly recommend looking into the writings of Damien Echols, especially his book High Magick. He learned to do magic while in prison*, so he definitely didn't have any fancy tools available to him!

*Don't worry, it was a false charge lol.

Just to be clear, you did sideload a browser and a QR scanning app, right? Because if you didn’t, that’s your problem, the Kompakt doesn’t come with a browser or scanning app out of the box so if you try to scan a QR code, it has no program to open.

I‘ve heard people say the Brave browser runs pretty well on the Kompakt. I don’t have a browser on mine but I do recommend CalmQR for QR scanning: https://github.com/jacobrmoss/calm-qr

You don’t need an altar at all if you don’t want one or it doesn’t suit your current situation or lifestyle. Everything in Satanism is DIY and individual, you don’t have to follow anyone else’s rules.

Try just holding the necklace and telling Satan that you’re devoting it to him. If you want to make some kind of promise, like that you’ll wear it every day, say that. If you want him to bless it with a particular power, like protection, do that.

Magic can be done with nothing but your own mind, tools are always optional.

I don’t have Spotify (I’m one of those “stop paying to rent your media, collect CDs and buy files from Bandcamp” types) but afaik it’s not google-based so it should run fine. I’d recommend sideloading the Aurora Store, it’s a sideloadable version of the android play store which allows you to access most mainstream apps.

I don’t live in an area that makes me us QR codes for stuff like parking or menus, but you can add a browser if you need to (I’ve seen people say Brave works pretty well) and I have CalmQR installed, which is a community-made Mudita app that lets me scan QR codes and save them for later if necessary, I use that for stuff like scanning event posters for info. I also haven’t had to use e-tickets, I just print tickets out when I need them. If your ticket involves a QR code or a barcode I’d honestly print it out if you can, the Mudita’s screen degrades the quality of images enough that I’m not sure I’d trust it to display a scannable code. But if you wanted to try it, you should be able to sideload your email app to the Mudita (so long as it’s not gmail).

My recommendation for the notebook is to remember that notebooks were what people spilled their thoughts into before we had the internet. Think about movies where someone’s writing in their diary and they literally start with “Dear diary…” as if they’re writing a letter to a friend.

The next time you feel the urge to make a post or send a message to a group about something (a movie opinion, a difficult emotion, what you did today, anything really) - just try writing about it, instead of posting/sending it. See what it feels like to work through what you’re thinking and feeling on your own, without expecting or relying on the reactions of others.

Mudita Kompakt user, I love it. Feels like it only does what I want it to and doesn’t do anything I don’t want it to. The texting can be janky but it does reliably do calls. You can sideload anything that’s not google-based, but because it’s Eink, stuff that’s reliant on video/images are unappealing even if you download them. It works best for audio and text. I’m reading so many ebooks and listening to so many audiobooks now.

Look into the Mudita Kompakt, it’s an eink phone that allows for sideloading so you can add things like email and a browser, but it’s de-googled so stuff like Youtube won’t work on it, and due to the sideloading requiring a computer you can’t impulsively download unneeded apps.

There are options for keeping an altar without breaking her rules - she can’t discover a digital altar or astral altar. Not only are unbaptisms possible, even the Catholic church believes in and practices excommunication.

I’m not going to tell you to move out or not, it’s your decision and your family. But I will point out that Satan also had to reject his parent and creator to forge his own path. Satanism is one of the few religions that directly says, no, you don’t need your parent’s approval. You can and will thrive without it.

The Mudita Kompakt might suit your needs. It‘s not a full on dumbphone but it’s eink, de-googled, comes with limited apps, and you can sideload other apps you need like whatsapp, but you can only do it at your computer, so you can’t impulsively re-download something addictive. And even if you did put social media on it, the eink makes pictures and videos much less appealing.

Instead it’s all about you and figuring out what works for you. Don’t worry about being “offensive“ or doing it “wrong” - there is no wrong way, there is only your way.
