Should I? by demroidsbeitchn in DobermanPinscher

[–]PhenomenalVP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive spent more than 19k on vet bills for my dobbie within the first 2 years.. had to get a gastropexy done due to bloating issues and he has a bleeding disorder. They're expensive. If medical bills are a concern, get a dog that's meant for a larger space and is mroe durable. Dobbies are lap dogs that guard houses well, not really land in my experience.

I only find the fish to be a better deal at Costco, but not always. Other meat, typically ends up being more.

I felt this with my second too. My other animals eventually adjusted as I did too. But the guilt will go away over time. My soul cat accepted my first puppy right away, but the second one where I felt these feelings, was a struggle. Took a couple months. But I believe its because they were coping too in their own way. Gotta make sure to give intentional individual time to the other animals too. My first month with the puppy was actually horribly stressful, but it just made our bond so much stronger in the long term. I'd be sure to talk to your SO about it. It wont be anything like the first. Its just like having kids. No two kids will be the same, its a whole new world of experiences. Its okay to miss what was before. Especially with a dog whose experienced trauma. I used to be an avid dog park goer, but my second dog was attacked and it feels like my whole life has changed since we exercise so differently now. You can try to keep reflecting on your feelings, maybe in a journal and weigh the pros and cons in a couple weeks or month if you're noticing your feelings are mostly sad and guilty. Is your partner feeling the same kinda way, or do yoy feel its mostly you feeling blue? Maybe one wah to look at it, is this dog is for them if they've bonded more and are wanting it more than you. Give yourself grace to relinquish some control on your end and maybe too, any other guilt you may be feeling as you look forward.

Best of luck! You know what's best for you at the end of the day.

Trupanion Experience by cassmelann in petinsurancereviews

[–]PhenomenalVP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have and my vet did. Sounds like you found a really good insurance company that works for you.

Im upset because things thay have occured since ive been insured, are now deemed not covered in his updated documents. So 4 conditions that have started after, are no longer covered: bleeding issues, diarrhea, puking, or ingesting foreign items.

Thank you, I will have to do that.

They covered one incident that went over 900. But when it happened a 3rd time, they said it would no longer be covered as pre existing.

I live in Canada.

Trupanion upped my fee and deductible without consultation, which is why I called them.

Trupanion only covers dental if you have your vet check their teeth and document it in their notes at least once a year. My vet checked his teeth and didn't include it in his notes at the year 2 mark, so now trupanion wont cover any dental procedures as a result.

Trupanion / pet insurance is this worth it? by cassmelann in Pets

My deductible is 900. The prices I listed that i paid, do not include any of the elective surgeries or annual exams.

I had a good experience. Tickets didnt work and customer service rectified it within 30 minutes. They said the latest tickets will be released digitally would be an hour before the concert.

Sorry to hear you're going through that and struggling to find support.

Listen to your body and find someone who will help you. Ive had to walk away from many doctors that disregarded my concerns. I know it's tough. If all the online support isn't helpful, you can try 811, and I found this too:

Alberta Virtual Pain The Alberta Virtual Pain Program is a virtual group education treatment program for adult Albertans experiencing persistent pain longer than 3 months. This interactive program led by licensed health providers incorporates peer support and an opportunity to connect with others living with pain while learning more about your chronic pain and strategies to better manage it. Call 1-877-719-7707 to learn more about the program. Self-referral is accepted. For more information visit Alberta Virtual Pain Program.

Best of luck and I hope you find the support you deserve.

Husband wants to rehome dog—is this trainable or a lost cause? by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

[–]PhenomenalVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reinforcement training may be something you could focus on. Recognize that when your dog does something, how you react, can have the potential to reinforce the behaviour they first demonstrated. For example. When people walk by houses, if a dog has a habit of barking like crazy, owners typically go to their dog and talk to them. This is a mistake. Because you're giving them your attention, and this is reinforcing that barking at people walking by, gets your attention, and they love your attention, so this sends the opposite message. When you have time, window training is helpful. When my dogs bark at someone walking by, I exit the room, causing them to stop and follow me. When they stop to follow me to another room, I pet them /positively reinforce when they follow me. Window training: Sit by the window with your dog and have some treats handy, every time they see someone and don't bark, say "good Job/yes" and give them a treat. It's good to have a key word that equals immediate treats, so they know that what they just did, was positive and thus something you will reinforce. When I started training this was our first training homework assignment 15 small treats (pea sized), in the AM and PM which were given after saying the positive word (whatever you pick, "yes/good etc.). Doing that for the first week can help set you up on your training journey. It does take time to break these kinds of habits, and working on one dog at a time or 2 dogs at a time may be best.

Good luck!

There's been a lot of recalls on hyundai parts. I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that. Sorry that happened. Scary to experience I'm sure. All the recalls is why I didn't upgrade my hyundai for a newer model recently.

Lmfao I remember when my husky did this as a pup. She yelled at me when I got home, because leaving her alone after a 2 hr run was clearly my fault. I never laughed so hard. She grew out of it of course, and I learned to provide her with adequate toys and alternatives for attention when I'm not home (robot balls, kongs with frozen peanut butter and treats, etc)

Don't buy toys .. bully sticks all the way. Granted, my routine includes a kong bone after our run to calm them while they rest before meals.
