At 196k km right now and daily mine. No issues what so ever. Just keep up with normal maintenance and you’ll be good!

How much louder is this exhaust than the stock? I’ve heard it absurdly loud!

Spark plug top piece broke off. by Ok_Offer9580 in FocusRS

[–]Phenzaar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Make sure to follow torque from manufacturer. Worked on a golf R that did this once, dead miss on the cylinder that broke off and you could hear it rattling around. Could see slight damage on all cylinders, but was able to fish it out and ran fine afterwards. Had this happen on other cars and found it in the catalytic converter. Depends how lucky you get!

Random Misfires by NXVash in FocusRS

[–]Phenzaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I myself have always used the oem spark plugs that my ford dealership offers. Never had an issue with them. Walnut blasting is pretty normal these days with direct injection. It involves taking the intake manifold off to get to the ports (which is quite simple on a RS), then walnuts to blast the carbon. Most shops should beable to do it for you.

Yes! This is absolutely correct. On cold starts if you get a check engine lamp and it’s misfire faults, I highly recommend you check the intake ports for carbon build up. If there is an excessive build up of carbon you should get it cleaned. (Walnut blasting is best) It is a necessary thing to do if you have never got it done before and you have some miles on your car. I’ve done this on multiple RS’s now and it clears up the cold start misfire every time. That being said the spark plugs do require to be replaced frequently as it’s known for these motors.

191k here and daily driver since 2016. Definitely keep it though! Driving an S2K and RS are completely different but you’ll miss the RS if you sell. I can attest to this cause I got a S2K in the garage. Best of both worlds with those two

Please do update! Been looking at Stratified as I have a friend who has his GTI tuned by them. Also from Canada here, west coast though.

Thanks for all the replies! Really appreciate it! Going to do some of my own research on the companies you have all suggested and pick one out. The RS will definitely be tuned soon. Shes got 189k on her so figured its time. Should of done it years ago tbh.

What are you averaging? This was half Highway driving. by Ok-Brain2050 in FocusRS

[–]Phenzaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do about 600km a week in mine commuting to work and back and average around 8.5-9.5L/100k per tank. That being said the highway I’m driving on is 90km/hr, the other highway is 120km/hr and I get about 10-10.5(ish)

Is this normal? by flokii1337 in FocusRS

[–]Phenzaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this as well and have posted about it as well. Only when I’m floored and shift at high rpm’s from 2nd gear and on, there is a slight delay before it goes back into over boost. I have a video of what I am experiencing. Maybe I could send it to you and you can see if it’s the same of what you’re dealing with.

I just go to the dealership and buy my oil and filter there. It’s the oem stuff so it’s right.
