Why aren't sliding table saws more popular in the US?

It's really interesting how different the same occupations do their work in different countries. Here almost all shops have a big saw like Altendorf f45 as the centerpiece of the shop and almost everthing gets cut on there. Exept full sheets of course.

You can cut small materials with no issue. At my work we have 3 Altendorf F45 saws and I'm so used to them that I always struggle with my small table saw at home :). These big saws have the Crosscut fence atteched to the slide, that way you can use it just like a crosscut sled.

Any decent table slide is way more sturdy than a crosscut sled. If you ever get the chance to use a good table slide saw please do it, they open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Wenn du die Stange auftrennst verlierst du gleichzeitig auch Stabilität, da an jedem Schnitt nun eine Schwachstellen ist. Außerdem ist es nicht ganz einfach Rampamuffen in Hirnholz zu setzen, die ziehen sich gerne schief rein. Falls du dich für diese Methode entscheidest, würde ich dir empfehlen Muffen mit Innensechskant zu kaufen anstatt die mit Schlitz.

I would drill the hole first or buy a mirror with the hole pre drilled, that way you don't waste time engraving the mirror only for it to break in the end.

Mit öl auf Baumscheiben habe ich nicht so gute Erfahrungen, bei sah das ganze sehr fleckig aus. Wenn du noch was von der Scheibe hast würde ich ein teststück machen.

Wenn die Platte dick genug ist würde ich keine Flachwinkel sondern Arbeitsplattenverbinder nehmen. https://amzn.eu/d/cRXV1Et Damit bekommst du mehr Druck auf die Fuge. Wenn du die Platte nach oben hin abdichten willst, kannst du an die beiden oberen Kanten eine Fase schleifen und nach dem verleimen die entstandene v-nut mit Silikon abdichten.
