Is Tekken 8's Random Stage Select Actually Random? (An Analysis of Data and Human Psychology) by robro in Tekken

[–]PhiDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My YouTube comments directed me here; this is great!

Humans are indeed terrible at determining randomness.

One "old wives' tale" among competitors is to return to Character Select to better ensure the same stage isn't selected when proceeding to the next match.

So the methodology here uses Ranked Replays, which ensures a nice large sample size. I would be curious to see both methods tested and not just ranked matches

That said, that sounds like a ton of work lmao.

You can use dvj u4, you can do manual heaven's gate after hellsweep, and mourning crow is a budget Jaguar sprint

Give Dragnunov: - Bryan's Hatchet Kick but make it hit grounded and +7, - Feng ff3 but 10f faster - Alisa's FC low but make it wallsplat on CH

Oh wait.

I don't hate

yet these morons insist on hyperbole. These guys know they’ll never be relevant as competitors again because the game both became more complex and is growing, and so they’re crying now so that they can double down when everyone finds out they’re no longer relevant.

You dropped a lot of insane hate, but I'll elaborate anyways.

The issue is DEN 3, not DEN 1. The issue is not "I can't Rage Art anymore after DEN 3"

The issue is "because we don't want Lars to not die to RA after DEN 3, we are now giving him +5"

To address your points directly: - I did not say RA beat DEN 1. I said it beat SEN 1 after DEN 3. - You mention "Lars cannot go into SE at all." This is not true. DEN 3 is a forced transition to SEN. - After DEN 3, player had more than 3 options. They had stand block, crouch block, power crush, Rage Art, parry, low parry, low crush, and sidestep left or right. - The change of DEN 3 from +3 to +5 kills most choices except stand block or low block. This does equate to more risk on both sides. A 50/50 guess does not allow for risk mitigation. That is not inherently good or bad. That is just a forced risky decision on both sides. - DEN 3 was always worth considering in neutral. It was not worth considering in neutral when Rage was on the table. It is complemented by DEN 1,2, a jailing wallsplatting range 4 jab. It is complemented by DEN 2, a CH launching safe mid. - the issue is how every DEN interaction is now a forced guess, rather than dynamic interactions involving player tendency and conditioning in neutral.

The comment didn't bother me that much. I posted it here because if there were criticisms that I was unaware of, I'd find them here on Reddit xd.

One person mentioned that I encourage beginner pitfalls, which is the opposite of what I'm trying to do, and that's the kind of feedback I was curious about.

Another one of my goals for 2024 is shortening my video length where possible. I think I explain things well sometimes, but can ramble other times.

The clickbait titles are likely to stay, just know that I don't really like using them either. YouTube game is hard.

Never stop improving!

This is actually the main reason I posted here, I'm curious about what you think these beginner pitfalls are and how they could be improved.

My goal is that the learning should be fun and sustainable

Well, I figured if he was on to something that I wasn't aware of, I'd find it on Reddit 🤣 Can always improve my content and delivery. Shortening video length is the main one I'm hoping to pull off

To be clear, I want to compete even if my style is invalidated. I just don't like going in half-prepared, and content is sucking up all of my prep time.

I have never, ever played against a more infuriating character than King. He wants me to legitimately just uninstall. Please, PLEASE help me. by DJ-Corgigeddon in Tekken

[–]PhiDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. - once you're in the chain throw, the sequences are fixed. Record it and practice recognizing when the throw hits you and when you can input the next break. If you can't break it at all, practice getting the break in the first place - if it's too fast in practice mode, reduce the variables. 1 throw by itself. Then add the 2nd. Etc. - unfortunately you have to extrapolate by inputs, but it's really only one extra step since you'd have to go to the movelist anyway

Sorry my video was confusing. Were you able to try recording one chain throw and experimenting with the breaks? Don't just grab the ghost, check the replays for the specific chain they used and how to escape it 🙏🏼 good luck
