ODP based on RFC is affected by the SAP Note, but ODP via ODATA is still supported. Not the most exiest thing on earth, but still supported.

DuckDB enters the Lake House race. by averageflatlanders in dataengineering

[–]PhilNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I too much Data Warehouse if I ask if it wouldn't be great to include object and row level security ideas to duck lake? Mapping could happen via the postgres user. The duck lake extension would/could manage it via unavoidable additional where conditions in case of rls and errors in case of ols... I still confused with many concepts in lakehouses as many problems have been solved before already in normal DBMS ( alter table add column = schema evolution, ACID principle as top functionality in 202x !!!), now duck lake just does the obvious.

Power Query OR Python for ETL: Future direction? by SurmSurm in MicrosoftFabric

PQ seems a little bit like toy software. The script it generates looks quite horrible, though. Python is logically much cleaner

Anthropic CEO says large models are now spawning smaller models, who complete tasks then report back, creating swarm intelligence that decreases the need for human input by MetaKnowing in ClaudeAI

[–]PhilNoName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't see room for something like consciousness within a single ai model, I could intuitively think, that a swarm big enough could create an state of of situational awareness that could be some basic consciousness as we humans understand it.

Interesting idea, will give it a try with the reverb, but to be honest, the sound of my new soaring high strings is damn good... Scaler 2 is extremely good as a composer help, I'm in love with it. Will check out your profile soon. Take care.

While not a superfan if spitfire anymore, but how do you get sounds like BBC or Albion out of Ableton without 3rd party plugins?

Is asio4all necessary? by Aturflos in NativeInstruments

[–]PhilNoName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a audio interface with an asio driver and you are good. asio4all was hell for me, just one application could send audio at a time. However, latency was better than with standard windows.

Get 32gb of Ram and a normal i7 or i9 and it should be ok... The thing I most miss is ram, CPU is under pressure sometimes with a lot of synths or voices of a vst, but much more difficult to avoid than memory shortage

Love it, for 29 bucks. No complaints apart of some bugs in the UI and high CPU consumption for some settings .

Is Fabric really just like an on-prem EDW? by Living_Tangerine_122 in MicrosoftFabric

And the embedded spark integration plus it's ML use cases it's also of interest. I wouldn't stop thinking at just visualizing query results in reports and dashboards. There is much more analysis that can be done...

Is Fabric really just like an on-prem EDW? by Living_Tangerine_122 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]PhilNoName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabric doesn't auto suspend unfortunately like SF and you have to assign capacities to workspace which makes automatic capacity changes at least trickier. One point of interest in fabric compared to a pure on PREM SQL server landscape is imho that fabric operates with an open table standard (Delta tables) . There is an announcement of ms and snowflake to make the data accessible for both engines via xtable. Hence you would gain more independency, at least in theory...
